Position Summary

The After School Care Staff member provides a safe, welcoming, and engaging environment for students participating in the school’s after‑school program. This position assists with student supervision, activities, homework time, transitions, and other daily program needs while supporting the mission, values, and expectations of the school.

This is a part‑time, variable‑hour position with work scheduled primarily during afternoon and early evening hours on days when the program is in operation. Weekly hours may fluctuate based on enrollment, student attendance, school schedules, and program needs. This position is not guaranteed a minimum number of hours per week.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide active and attentive supervision of students at all times.
  • Maintain a safe, structured, positive, and Christ‑centered environment for students.
  • Assist with student check‑in, dismissal, and authorized pick‑up procedures.
  • Lead or assist with age‑appropriate activities, games, crafts, recreation, and other enrichment opportunities.
  • Supervise homework and designated quiet or study periods.
  • Monitor student behavior and reinforce school expectations using appropriate and consistent classroom management practices.
  • Assist students during transitions between classrooms, playgrounds, athletic areas, and other campus locations.
  • Help maintain accurate student attendance and accountability throughout the afternoon.
  • Communicate student concerns, behavioral issues, injuries, or other incidents promptly to program leadership.
  • Interact with parents, students, faculty, and staff in a professional, courteous, and service‑oriented manner.
  • Assist with setup, cleanup, and organization of program spaces and materials.
  • Follow all school policies and procedures related to student safety, emergency response, confidentiality, and employee conduct.
  • Participate in required training and meetings as assigned.
  • Perform other duties related to the After School Care program as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Previous experience working with children or students preferred.
  • Ability to effectively supervise and engage groups of students of varying ages.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Dependable, punctual, flexible, and able to work collaboratively with others.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and respond appropriately to student needs and unexpected situations.
  • Must successfully complete all required background checks, training, and other employment requirements established by the school.
Physical Requirements

The employee must be able to actively supervise students in both indoor and outdoor settings. The position may require prolonged standing and walking, bending, reaching, moving throughout campus, participating in recreational activities, and lifting or carrying program materials and supplies. Reasonable accommodations may be made for qualified individuals in accordance with applicable law.

Work Schedule and Employment Status

This position is classified as part‑time, variable hour, and non‑exempt and is paid on an hourly basis.

Work is primarily scheduled during afternoon and early evening hours on school days and other designated program days.
