Job DescriptionAs a Specialist, Power Supply Design Engineer, you will have primary engineering responsibility for electrical design tasks including requirements analysis, specification generation, interface definition, component selection, circuit simulation, schematic capture, and board layout for low voltage switching power supply solutions. You will design power supply circuitry utilizing Power Factor Correction, Forward, Boost, Buck, and SEPIC topologies with output power ranges of 10W - 150W.
You will also engage in all phases of product development, including concept, architecture, design, and test.

Harris’ Agile Development Group specializes in developing disruptive, next-generation technologies for advanced Unmanned Air Systems (UAS / UAV), advanced radar systems, next-generation weapon systems, and other RF sensor technologies using small company agility and big company experience.
- Take responsibility for electrical design tasks including requirements analysis, specification generation, interface definition, component selection, circuit simulation, schematic capture, and board layout
- Provide technical responsibility for schedule, cost, at the board or subsystem level
- Support power designs for all circuit card assemblies (Digital, Power, RF, misc. CCAs)
- Design and specify magnetic components
- Electrical design integration at the board or subsystem level
- Simulate, breadboard, test and troubleshoot analog and power conversion circuits and subsystems
- Identify high risk circuits functions to simulate and prototype/breadboard before creation of full design
- Develop test plans and procedures for power subsystems and all relevant documentation for design description and requirements
- Participate and present in peer reviews, PDRs, CDRs and other required design reviews
- Participate in risk assessment and develop mitigation strategies
- Interface with interdisciplinary design teams and reviews
- Learn and follow company processes for product development, configuration management, purchasing, etc.
- Ability to obtain DoD Secret Clearance
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering and minimum 4 years of prior relevant experience or a Graduate Degree in Electrical Engineering and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of prior related electrical engineering power design experience.
- 2 years of experience with the main power circuit design topologies (buck, boost, push‑pull, forward, fly back, current mode, Cuk converters, etc.)
- Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field and/or equivalent experience desired
- Proficiency in python scripting
- 2+ years’ experience in the Defense Industry
- Excellent problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to perform detailed circuit analysis.
- Familiarity with Simplis or Hyperlynx power simulation tools
- Basic knowledge of Mil-Std-461
- Capable of working independently in a lab environment
- Experience performing design trade studies comparing functionality, quality, and cost.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office products
- Excellent people skills to include collaborating in a multi‑disciplinary, diverse, and dynamic team environment.
- Experience in circuit simulation tools such as SPICE and/or Hyper Lynx
- Experience with basic Radar performance concepts
- Experience using Microsoft Office products
