Position DescriptionWe are seeking a detail?oriented Estimator – Data Center Operations to join a growing team supporting mission?critical infrastructure projects. This position serves as an entry point into Data Center Project Estimating and Operations Management, offering strong long?term career growth toward roles such as Estimator, Senior Estimator, or Project Engineer.
This role focuses on preparing and analyzing project cost estimates, reviewing drawings and specifications, supporting bid packages, and collaborating closely with project managers, engineers, procurement, and field teams. Ideal candidates have exposure to structured cabling, ISP/ITC environments, data center infrastructure, or construction estimating—and are eager to grow in the mission?critical facilities space.
Responsibilities- Assist with preparing cost estimates, bills of materials (BOMs), labor projections, and pricing for data center construction and infrastructure projects.
- Interpret technical drawings, blueprints, scope documents, and Division 27 specifications to determine project requirements.
- Perform quantity take-offs for structured cabling, electrical systems, and mechanical systems used in mission-critical environments.
- Collaborate with project engineers, field teams, and procurement to verify material quantities, labor hours, and vendor pricing.
- Support bid preparation efforts for RFPs, vendor proposals, and competitive bids.
- Update historical cost databases, pricing libraries, and vendor rate documentation.
- Assist with change order analysis, validating scope adjustments and cost impacts.
- Participate in site visits, walk-throughs, and pre-bid meetings.
- Ensure estimates align with company standards, safety expectations, and client requirements.
- Contribute to process improvements to enhance estimating accuracy, efficiency, and repeatability.
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- 3–5 years of experience in estimating, project coordination, or data center construction (internships or field experience acceptable).
- Knowledge of Division 27 specifications in ISP environments.
- Strong understanding of electrical, mechanical, or cabling systems used in data centers or mission-critical facilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Bluebeam, and estimating tools (Trimble, Accubid, Plan Swift, or similar).
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, cabling schematics, and construction specifications.
- Excellent numerical accuracy, analytical skills, and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
- Familiarity with BICSI standards, structured cabling design, or data center system architecture.
- Experience with vendor bid comparisons, RFP processes, or cost?control systems.
- Basic experience with AutoCAD, Revit, or construction scheduling tools.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities and deadlines.
