One of our clients is seeking a Plant Layout Designer to support major CAPEX projects across Cement, Waste Management, Power, Logistics, Aggregates, and Ready Mix operations.
The Plant Layout Designer is responsible for delivering technically sound, safe, maintenance-friendly, and cost-effective plant designs during the definition, planning, and execution phases of projects. This role works closely with Engineering Managers, Discipline Engineers, suppliers, and project stakeholders to produce high-quality drawings and documentation on time and within budget.
What You’ll Accomplish- Demonstrate a strong commitment to safety policies across all work environments
- Develop required engineering documents and drawings for greenfield, brownfield, and debottlenecking projects, including:
- Mass flow diagrams (contribution)
- Plot plans and general layouts
- Flow sheets and process flow charts
- General arrangement drawings with dimensions
- Plant section layouts
- 2D and 3D modeling (Navisworks, Revit, AutoCAD, etc.)
- Maintain and expand plant design databases
- Conduct plant visits and surveys to assess interactions with existing equipment
- Integrate investment cost reduction strategies into layout and arrangement designs
- Apply safety-by-design principles and country-specific standards
- Define appropriate equipment and optimize design solutions with stakeholders and suppliers
- Serve as liaison between suppliers and engineering teams for effective plant optimization
- Ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget
- Promote health, safety, and environmental compliance across all project phases
- Develop 3D CAD layouts and designs for major plant CAPEX projects ($10MM–$500MM)
- Collaborate with Operations Managers, Project Engineers, and Plant Managers
- Coordinate with Performance Specialists (Best Practices & Innovation)
- Work closely with Safety, Land, and Environmental teams
Education:
- Preferred field of study:
Civil Engineering
- 3–5 years of relevant experience
- Background in cement manufacturing (operations, maintenance, design, new works, or supply of large plant projects)
Skills:
- Strong knowledge of engineering design standards and tools within the cement industry
- Ability to read and interpret mass flow diagrams and process flow sheets
- Familiarity with cement industry processes, material handling, and logistics equipment
- Basic project management knowledge
- Proficiency in 2D/3D CAD tools (Navisworks, Revit, AutoCAD), MS Office, and Engineering Base
- Experience with BIM design methodology
- Up to 30% travel
