OverviewPTS Advance is seeking a Senior MEP Mechanical Engineer to support complex building systems design across commercial, institutional, and mixed-use projects. This role requires a strong foundation in mechanical/HVAC design within an AEC environment and an active Engineer in Training (EIT) certification at minimum.
The ideal candidate will come directly from an AEC consulting firm and be capable of leading mechanical design efforts while coordinating closely with multidisciplinary teams.
Key Responsibilities- Lead mechanical/HVAC design for building systems across multiple project types (commercial, healthcare, institutional, industrial)
- Perform load calculations, equipment sizing, and system selection
- Develop construction documents, specifications, and engineering reports
- Coordinate with electrical, plumbing, structural, and architectural disciplines
- Participate in client meetings and project design reviews
- Support senior engineers and project managers in delivering high-quality, code-compliant designs
- Conduct site visits, field observations, and construction administration support
- Ensure compliance with applicable building codes, ASHRAE standards, and local regulations
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
- Minimum 5–8+ years of experience in an AEC consulting engineering firm
- Strong HVAC design experience in building systems (MEP focus)
- Proficiency with industry software (e.g., Revit, AutoCAD, HVAC load calculation tools)
- Solid understanding of mechanical codes, energy standards, and construction practices
- Strong communication and coordination skills
- Experience working toward PE licensure (or actively pursuing)
- Experience leading small project teams or mechanical design packages
- Prior experience in fast-paced consulting environments
