About the Role

Stantec’s Plano, Texas office is looking for an experienced Water/Wastewater Conveyance Engineer to serve as the technical lead on local and regional projects throughout North Texas.

Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as Engineer of Record for civil/conveyance infrastructure projects, reviewing and sealing of projects.
  • Provide engineering support for projects in Dallas and throughout the region, performing a variety of tasks from planning to delivery.
  • Conduct alternative analyses—route alignments, pipe size and materials—to support business case evaluations.
  • Apply industry standards (ASTM, AWWA, ACPA) as well as client standards and requirements.
  • Assist Project Manager and/or Project Technical Lead with managing and monitoring financial performance of project budgets.
  • Evaluate, select, and specify all civil engineered systems or products for a project.
  • Manage and lead others, assigning, reviewing, and evaluating work for technical accuracy and completeness.
  • Lead project coordination meetings with internal team, external consultants, owners, contractors, subcontractors, and vendors.
  • Lead client requirement meetings, value analysis, and cost estimating.
  • Lead preparation and coordination of project specifications with construction documents.
  • Participate in constructability reviews.
  • Conduct quality assurance and quality control on own projects and of peers.
  • Lead development of new standards and specifications for the discipline.
  • Serve as the project’s point of contact with clients, agencies, and others to obtain project requirements and approvals.
  • Remain current on regulatory policy and rule changes and establish working relationships with regulatory officials.
  • Develop project scope, budgets, and design approach for all sizes of projects, and support marketing and business development professionals in positioning for potential projects, writing technical portions of proposals, participating in client interviews, and supporting negotiations for project contracts.
  • Assist and/or lead the development of proposals and contract negotiations.

Technical Expertise
  • Ability to check the work of others for accuracy and completeness and manage time to meet project budget and schedule.
  • Understanding of client expectations, project budgeting, proposal writing, and invoicing.
  • Experience in design of large diameter steel, concrete, plastic, and fiberglass pipe for water, wastewater, and stormwater pipelines and related appurtenances.
  • Experience in design of wastewater lift stations and potable water reservoirs and pump stations (preferred).
  • Experience with the use of AutoCAD Civil3D.
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Civil, Mechanical, Process, Chemical, or Civil/Environmental Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Master of Science in Civil/Environmental, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering from an accredited institution (preferred).
  • 5-10 years of professional experience in water/wastewater conveyance design and construction projects.
  • Texas Professional Engineering (PE) license required within 6 months of hire.

Typical office environment involves working with computers and at a desk for long periods of time; field work may involve exposure to the elements and inclement weather.
