Principal Power Electronics Architect – Front End Power
Responsibilities:
- Study new technological trends and introduce high‑power‑density, highly efficient topologies, architectural and design concepts for Front End Power product lines.
- Own and drive New Technology Introduction (NTI) projects, guiding teams to deliver high‑quality, reliable concepts and minimize risks in New Product Introduction (NPI) projects.
- Develop Product Architecture design, considering topology selection, control‑loop algorithms, hardware/firmware handoffs, efficiency, EMC, power density, thermal management, and other specifications.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to produce customer‑specific and platform‑specific technical solution proposals on time.
- Conduct design reviews for NTI and NPI projects, ensuring design quality standards are met.
- Resolve technical challenges for assigned NTI and NPI projects promptly.
- Train, mentor, and coach team members to enhance technical expertise.
- Engage with customers, sales, product managers, segment leaders, and R&D leaders to support growth initiatives.
- Support intellectual‑property assessment and facilitate timely IP filing.
- Communicate project status and results to stakeholders and external customers.
- Travel up to 25% of the time.
- Bachelor, Master, or PhD in engineering from an accredited institution.
- 10+ years of hands‑on experience designing single and three‑phase rectifiers and DC/DC converters for low, medium, and high‑power (kilowatts) systems in AI Data Centers, Telecom, and Industrial applications.
- Experience with high‑power‑density and highly efficient Power Electronics/Power Conversion topologies for these segments.
- Strong knowledge of electrical and embedded hardware (DSP, micro‑controllers, interfaces) and ability to review and discuss circuit‑design choices.
- Ability to translate customer requirements/specifications into robust technical proposals and architecture designs.
- Experience with EMI/EMC, power‑supply control loops, stability, thermal design, safety, and certification compliance for power electronics.
- Working knowledge of industry standards such as IEC/EN, UL, ANSI, IPC, ISO, and related standards.
- Understanding of communication protocols including PMBus, CANbus, Modbus, PoE, and others.
- Strong interpersonal skills, able to interact at all organizational levels.
- Design creativity and problem‑solving capabilities.
- Results oriented, delivering on commitments and follow‑through.
- Involved in numerous NTI and NPI projects throughout career.
- Strong analytical, decision‑making, and problem‑solving skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Experience working globally with cross‑functional teams to develop high‑quality product designs and solutions.
- Familiarity with NTI and NPI design processes.
