Senior AI​/ML Algorithms Systems Engineer

Raytheon is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer specializing in AI/ML algorithms to support advanced aerospace sensor programs.

• Be a member of the leadership team and manage AI/ML projects on the Algorithms team of Advanced Sensor Programs.
• Perform system-level performance analysis to evaluate and optimize advanced airborne sensor capabilities.
• Develop, refine, and analyze AI/ML algorithms to support mission-critical aerospace applications.
• Conduct trade studies to compare technical approaches and guide engineering decisions.
• Build statistical models and performance predictions for complex, multidisciplinary systems.
• Execute detailed data analyses following Raytheon engineering processes and best practices.
• Participate in formal and informal peer reviews; identify, track, and resolve technical issues.
• Provide clear, timely task status updates and deliver high-quality work products to the chief engineer.
• Interface daily with engineering teammates, other team leads, and cross‑functional partners to ensure technical alignment.
• Support customer and program presentations by contributing technical content and insights.
• Collaborate with both internal teams and external stakeholders to drive successful program outcomes.

• Bachelor’s Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM).
• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in AI/ML and one or more of the following areas: signal processing algorithms/models, image processing algorithms/models, detection theory.
• Experience developing and implementing AI/ML signal processing algorithms for airborne surveillance applications, including signal and image processing, physics-constrained modeling, digital communications, or detection and estimation theory.
• Experience using software change management tools, version control systems, and established software development processes.
• Active and transferable U.S. government issued DoD Secret security clearance is required prior to start date.
• U.S. citizenship is required.

• Active DoD Top Secret clearance.
• Advanced degree in STEM.
• Realtime programming for embedded or mission‑critical systems.
• Programming experience in C or C++ and hands‑on experience using MATLAB or Python for data analysis.
• AI/ML experience with Anaconda.
• Mathematical modeling and analytical problem‑solving skills.
• Experience with UNIX/Linux environments.

Salary range: $86,800 - $165,200 USD.
