LHH's Manufacturing & Engineering Search team is partnered with a high‑volume electronics manufacturing organization to hire a Quality Engineer supporting product quality, process control, and supplier performance in a fast‑paced production environment. This role works cross‑functionally with design engineering, manufacturing, suppliers, and customers to maintain quality standards and drive continuous improvement.
Position Overview
The Quality Engineer is responsible for ensuring products and processes meet established quality requirements from development through mass production. This role requires a hands‑on background in electronic assembly manufacturing, the ability to read electronic schematics, and experience supporting quality systems in high‑volume environments.
Strong candidates bring experience with failure analysis, supplier quality, ISO‑based QMS, and hands‑on inspection and diagnostic tools.
Key Responsibilities
* Support design and development teams with qualification activities for new and existing products
* Conduct first‑article inspections of PCB assemblies and electronic components
* Operate X‑ray inspection equipment and perform PCBA cross‑section analysis
* Investigate electronic assembly manufacturing processes to identify root causes and implement corrective actions
* Lead and support failure analysis on returned units and generate detailed reports
* Manage ISO 9001 compliance activities, including internal audits, certification audits, and CAPAs
* Interface with global manufacturing locations and suppliers to resolve quality issues
* Issue and manage Corrective Action Requests, risk assessments, and process holds
* Review and approve engineering change orders for quality impact
* Monitor PPM (Parts Per Million) metrics, analyze trends, and drive corrective actions
* Support environmental compliance initiatives including RoHS, REACH, and conflict minerals
* Manage supplier quality assurance activities, including audits, evaluations, and performance monitoring
* Collaborate closely with manufacturing, engineering, and customer teams to resolve quality issues
Technical & Process Knowledge Required
* Electronic assembly manufacturing in high‑volume mass production environments
* PCB assembly processes including wave soldering, reflow soldering, and IPC standards
* Electronic components including FETs, capacitors, resistors, ICs, PCB boards, and magnetics
* Failure Mode Analysis (FMA) and Supplier Corrective Action Request (SCAR) processes
* Pins and mechanical/electrical parts plating and electro‑chemistry processes
* Ability to read and interpret electronic schematics and circuit designs
Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical field or equivalent experience
* Minimum of 5 years of quality experience within the electronic assembly manufacturing industry
* Experience with ISO 9001, quality management systems, failure analysis, and corrective actions
* Hands‑on experience using X‑ray inspection and PCBA cross‑section tools preferred
* Strong written and verbal communication skills
* Experience working with PLM, ERP, or enterprise quality systems preferred
* Must have legal authorization to work in U.S. without need for sponsorship now or in the future
