An experienced Electrical Engineer to join our Aerospace team you will have the opportunity to design circuits, create schematics, select components, and develop PCB layouts for advanced aircraft lighting systems. The engineer will also be responsible for board bring-up, evaluation, testing, and troubleshooting at both the board and system levels.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Define requirements and publish specification documents
- Create block diagrams and develop schematics
- Adhere to design and release processes
- Assist in component selection and provide design rules for PCB layout
- Design analog and digital circuits, including switching DC/DC power supplies and constant current regulators
- Develop microcontroller-based system controllers and HMIs
- Incorporate EMI/EMC design considerations
- Review PCB layouts
- Develop and execute PCB bring-up and test plans
- Perform troubleshooting and failure analysis down to the component level
- Work with suppliers on component details, PCB fabrication, and assembly
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (mechanical, software, optical, and test engineers)
- Manage obsolete parts and identify alternate components
- Communicate technical design decisions clearly
- Other duties as assigned
- Aircraft LED Lighting System Design (strongly preferred)
- PWA / Board Design experience, specifically with LEDs or LED drivers (strongly preferred)
- Automotive LED lighting experience will also be considered
- Working knowledge of RTCA DO-160, MIL-STD-461, MIL-STD-704, and ARP 4754 (required)
- Strong analog and digital circuit design skills
- Experience with microcontroller and digital design
- Power supply sequencing knowledge
- PCB layout review capability
- Working knowledge of Ethernet, USB, CAN, I²C, and SPI standards
- Strong troubleshooting and failure analysis skills
- Simulations in LTSpice (preferred)
- Familiarity with Altium for schematic capture and board layout (preferred)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Good design documentation practices
BSEE degree required (MSEE preferred) 8+ years of electrical engineering and circuit design experience required
