Raytheon’s Naval Airborne Systems (NAS), within Naval Power, is seeking a Radar Principal Systems Engineer to serve as a radar Subject Matter Expert (SME) supporting multiple programs and IRAD efforts within the Advanced Sensor portfolio.
Based in the Systems Engineering and Test Capabilities Center in the Airborne Surveillance RF department, this engineer will collaborate closely with on-site Systems Engineers to advance radar system design and waveform development, provide technical leadership to a small team of radar analysts, and support the Chief Engineer and Lead Systems Engineer. This is an Onsite role located in Plano, Texas.
What You Will Do:- Radar performance analysis, waveform experimentation, system capability investigations, trade study generation, statistical modeling, performance predictions, and data analysis for complex systems using Raytheon Engineering processes and practices.
- Participate in peer reviews and resolving identified technical problems.
- Interface with team lead, team members, and related engineers daily.
- Conduct and/or participate in customer and/or program presentations, and apply technical knowledge to develop novel radar waveforms and innovative work products.
- Work as a member of a team and provide SME-level guidance and mentorship to junior engineers within the algorithm engineering group.
- Strong interpersonal, presentation skills, verbal and written communication skills.
You Must Have:
- Typically requires a bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of prior experience in radar mode/skill development and radar system integration.
- Experience in radar mode/skill development and radar system integration.
- UNIX/Linux and demonstrated computer programming skills in C or C++ and using MATLAB or Python for data analysis.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance prior to start date.
- U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
- Active Top-Secret clearance with investigation within five years.
- Advanced degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM).
- Mathematical modeling and analytical problem-solving.
- Experience in the development, testing, and troubleshooting of radar and RF hardware.
- Background in radar test planning, execution, and related processes.
- Ability to lead and manage a small technical team of three or more individuals.
