SummaryUrban Oil & Gas Group, LLC is seeking a highly capable Financial Analyst to join the Finance team, reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO).
The primary focus of this role is budgeting, forecasting, and FP&A at both the operational asset and fund levels. The analyst will own the monthly budgeting and forecasting cycle, support longer-term planning, and translate operating and reserves data into clear financial insights for management and 3rd parties. In addition, this role will support acquisition/divestiture analysis and participate in bank and lender‑facing discussions and deliverables.
This is a hands‑on position in a lean team environment and is well‑suited to a self‑starter who is comfortable working independently, managing multiple priorities, and collaborating across Operations, Accounting, Business Development, Marketing, and IT.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the monthly budgeting and forecasting process for the active funds and asset areas, coordinating inputs from Operations, Accounting, and Marketing.
- Build and maintain financial models that forecast production, revenues, LOE, production taxes, G&A allocations, capital, and cash flows.
- Prepare rolling forecasts and scenario analyses (commodity prices, differentials, LOE, capital, downtime) and clearly articulate impacts to cash flow, covenant headroom, and distributions.
- Perform variance analysis (actual vs. budget / forecast / underwriting), explaining key drivers and partnering with stakeholders on corrective actions.
- Assist in the preparation of monthly and quarterly management reports, including dashboards and commentary on asset and fund performance.
- Develop and maintain unit economics and DCF models at the well, unit, and asset level, including breakeven pricing, payback periods, and return metrics (NPV, IRR, cash‑on‑cash).
- Work with operation engineers to integrate PHDWin or equivalent reserves database outputs (PDP, PDNP, PUD cases, type curves) into financial models.
- Support evaluation of acquisition and divestiture opportunities, including sensitivities on price, costs, capex, and development plans.
- Help prepare underwriting summaries and presentations for the organization.
- Support bank and lender reporting, including covenant calculations, borrowing base / ABS metrics, stress models and related schedules.
- Assist in preparing presentations and analysis for lender meetings and other external stakeholders, as capabilities and experience allow.
- Coordinate with Capital Markets and Finance to ensure consistency between internal models and external financial reporting.
- Leverage Excel, Power BI, and data warehousing concepts to design and maintain standardized models, reports, and dashboards.
- Partner with IT, Accounting, and Operations to improve data quality, data flows, and automation between ERP, reserves, and analytics tools.
- Document assumptions, sources, and methodologies to ensure models are auditable, repeatable, and scalable.
- Advanced Excel skills, including complex formulas, lookups, pivot tables, data tables, and scenario / sensitivity analysis.
- Experience with Power BI or similar BI tools for building dashboards and visualizing financial and operational performance.
- Working knowledge of PHDWin or other reserves software or demonstrated ability to quickly learn and apply reserves database outputs in financial modeling.
- Strong understanding of oil and gas unit economics, including:
- Production profiles and decline curves
- LOE and production tax structures
- Price differentials and marketing terms
- Capital and AFE concepts
- Comfort working with large data sets, data warehousing concepts, and reconciling data to Accounting/ERP systems.
