A Post-Closing Specialist ensures loan files are received, audited, shipped, and sold correctly. They will prepare and audit loan files promptly and review signed settlement documents for accuracy. The duties and responsibilities include developing, sending, and recording mortgage documents.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure timely delivery of final documents to investors, meeting all shipping and post-closing deadlines.
  • Track and follow up on outstanding final document conditions to prevent purchase delays or penalties.
  • Coordinate with closing, post-closing, and shipping teams to resolve documentation deficiencies quickly.
  • Maintain accurate tracking logs for shipped packages, collateral locations, and investor receipt confirmations.
  • Perform general post-closing administrative tasks including document indexing, file audits, and status updates.
  • Prioritize work based on delivery expiration with investor and closing dates.
  • Facilitate investor suspense items to expedite the purchase process.
  • Communicate clearly and concisely with appropriate staff regarding resolution of file issues including suspense conditions within response deadlines.
  • Obtain and submit supporting documentation to clear suspense conditions (internal and Investor) by deadline in order to minimize monetary penalties.
  • Register loans with MERS within required turn times and transfer as appropriate on service release loans.
Required

Education and Experience
  • 1 – 2+ years’ experience in residential mortgage lending, with Post Closing and/or Secondary Marketing/Shipping experience preferred.
  • Must be detail oriented.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with little direction and meet tight deadlines.
  • In depth knowledge of FNMA, FHLMC, GNMA, FHA, VA, USDA and private investor products. Thorough understanding of Federal and State regulations including but not limited to FHA/VA and Conventional guidelines, RESPA, TILA, HOEPA, and QM.
