Overview

Senior Commercial Underwriter – Toyota Dealer Lending Department. Underwrite large dealer credit packages for Toyota, Lexus, and Mazda dealers across the country. Evaluate loan requests ranging from $1million to $500million, including floorplan lines of credit, real‑estate loans, working capital loans, and revolving lines of credit. Provide risk assessments and recommendations to management while maintaining compliance with TFS risk‑management policies.

Responsibilities
  • Perform financial analysis using company‑prepared statements, tax returns, and CPA‑reviewed/audited documents to determine borrower liquidity, leverage, and capitalization.
  • Complete bank statement, general ledger trial balance, and tax return reconciliations.
  • Provide cash‑flow analyses for all proposed loans.
  • Evaluate, assess, and determine the risk associated with all credit requests and present findings to approval authorities.
  • Analyze security, corporate/personal guarantees, and legal structure to ensure proper collateralization and ownership compliance.
  • Consolidate multi‑franchise or corporate information into simplified reports highlighting inter‑relationships and potential risk areas.
  • Review documentation related to loan approvals including buy/sell agreements, LLC statements, partnerships, real‑estate documents, and wholesale relationship paperwork.
  • Consult with TFS/Private‑Label legal teams for required document corrections or modifications.
  • Lead internal projects for system enhancements, process improvements, and compliance initiatives.
  • Prepare ad‑hoc reports for upper management and collaborate with cross‑departmental teams.
  • Mentor and develop junior analysts; conduct peer reviews to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Lead complex credit analyses and risk assessments for high‑value dealer lending portfolios with final recommendations to management.
  • Drive Kaizen efforts establishing best practices to maintain high standards of accuracy and compliance.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related discipline (or equivalent experience).
  • 5+ years of experience in commercial loan underwriting, including complex financial structures and cash‑flow analysis.
  • Strong analytical skills using industry‑standard financial ratios and covenants.
  • Experience presenting complex financial information to credit approval authorities.
  • Ability to identify credit risks and suggest mitigations.
  • Experience leading department projects and managing workload for loan underwriting.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Bonus: proficiency with Crowe Navigator or similar financial analysis tools.
  • Underwriting experience with automotive dealer borrowers.
