Paramedic (PRN)
Frisco First Surgery Center is looking for a PRN
Paramedic to join our team!
SUMMARY: The Paramedic is responsible for providing patient care under the direction of a Registered Nurse and/or the ASC Manager. The Paramedic performs approved clinical procedures; documents care and supports patient flow.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Verifies patient identity using approved protocols.
- Performs clinical procedures within scope of training and certification.
- Performs and documents diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, including vital signs, 12‑lead EKGs, phlebotomy, IV insertion, splinting, specimen collection, and patient immobilization.
- Assists with patient extrication as required.
- Monitors patients and performs routine assessments and rounds.
- Reports changes in patient condition to the licensed nurse.
- Reassesses and documents vital signs per protocol.
- Transports and monitors high‑risk patients as assigned.
- Documents all patient care accurately and completely in the medical record.
- Labels, processes, and maintains specimens, records, and patient belongings.
- Assists with patient triage based on acuity and notifies RN or Medical Director of urgent needs.
- Maintains clean, organized, and stocked work areas.
- Restocks supplies and assists with inventory management to maintain par levels.
- Supports patient flow and departmental operations.
- Assists team members with patient care and workflow as needed.
- Follows safety policies and reports hazards and incidents promptly.
- Perform other related tasks as needed.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Ability to respond quickly to changes in patient condition.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to communicate clearly with clinical staff and patients.
- Ability to document patient care accurately.
- Ability to maintain organized workflow and prioritize tasks.
- Ability to perform basic equipment cleaning and maintenance.
- Ability to apply clinical protocols and follow established procedures.
- Ability to perform clinical skills within scope of practice (e.g., EKG acquisition, IV access, phlebotomy).
- Ability to maintain patient safety during transport and clinical procedures.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- High School diploma or GED
- Graduate from a Paramedic training program
- Licensed Paramedic. Licensure must remain active and unencumbered while employed
- One (1) year hospital/surgery center experience
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certified
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certified
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certified
