Position Overview Wheeler Staffing Partners is seeking an experienced Human Resources Benefits Specialist, Paycom for a contract opportunity in Plano, TX. This hybrid position will support the day-to-day administration of employee benefit programs, with a strong focus on benefits processing, employee enrollment, record maintenance, compliance, and employee support. This is a highly transactional and administrative benefits role requiring hands‑on experience processing benefit enrollments, changes, and terminations.
The Human Resources Benefits Specialist will work closely with employees, payroll, insurance carriers, benefit vendors, and internal teams to ensure benefit records and deductions are accurate and employee questions are resolved efficiently. The ideal candidate has 2+ years of benefits administration experience, hands‑on Paycom experience, ACA knowledge, and strong Microsoft Excel skills. Experience administering self‑insured benefit plans is highly preferred.
- Administer day-to-day employee benefits activities, including enrollments, changes, terminations, and claims processing.
- Manage benefit plan enrollment and eligibility updates for new hires and existing employees.
- Assist employees with benefit elections, open enrollment, qualifying life events, and general benefit-related questions.
- Maintain accurate employee benefit records, elections, and supporting documentation within Paycom.
- Support Affordable Care Act (ACA) administration, tracking, documentation, and reporting requirements.
- Process benefit reimbursement requests and maintain accurate supporting documentation.
- Track employee leaves of absence and ensure benefit and employee records remain current throughout the leave process.
- Partner with payroll to ensure employee benefit deductions and employer contributions are processed accurately and on schedule.
- Review and reconcile benefits information to identify and resolve discrepancies.
- Process claims and administrative requests related to workers' compensation and other employee programs.
- Research and resolve employee benefit questions and issues in a timely and professional manner.
- Coordinate with insurance carriers, benefit vendors, brokers, and external service providers regarding enrollment, eligibility, claims, and other benefit matters.
- Maintain benefits reports, records, and documentation in accordance with federal, state, company, and provider requirements.
- Utilize Microsoft Excel to organize, reconcile, track, and analyze benefits-related information.
- Support ongoing benefits compliance and ensure administrative processes align with applicable policies and regulations.
- Maintain confidentiality of employee benefit, payroll, and personal information.
- Assist with additional benefits and HR administrative projects as needed.
- Minimum of 2 years of benefits administration or closely related experience.
- Hands‑on experience processing employee benefit enrollments, changes, terminations, and eligibility updates.
- Paycom experience is required.
- Experience supporting ACA administration and compliance.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPs, and formulas.
- Working knowledge of employee benefit programs, policies, procedures, and applicable regulations.
- Experience maintaining accurate and confidential employee benefit records.
- Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to manage multiple transactional and administrative priorities in a deadline‑driven environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to effectively respond to employee benefit questions and resolve administrative issues.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate with employees, payroll, vendors, carriers, and internal departments.
