Job OverviewCrestron engineers many devices and products for commercial and residential markets. Raw telemetry data from these millions of IoT enabled devices is managed by Crestron’s Azure Cloud Platform.
Crestron is looking for an engineer in Cloud Operations for 24x7 support in maintaining Azure cloud services. A 12‑hour/day, 7‑day/week team covers cloud operations support for U.S. time zones, which includes holiday and weekend day and night shift work.
Job Responsibilities- Working as part of the 24x7 operations team to support the cloud services during U.S. time zones, including holidays.
- Creating tools to reduce manual effort in operations and monitoring of cloud infrastructure.
- Establishing runbooks and procedures to maintain service level agreements on a global basis.
- Establishing real‑time dashboards that present critical utilization and performance data and trends.
- Maintaining and updating alerts for various resources.
- Coordinating as needed with various interdepartmental teams, including Engineering, Product Development, Production, Marketing and Quality.
- Helping deliver key components across several active projects.
- Taking ownership of assigned work with mentor support, using initiative and creative thinking to solve problems.
Skills & Qualifications
- Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Science.
- Minimum 2+ years of relevant experience.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Azure PaaS services such as AKS, Docker, App Services, IoTHub, Event Hub, Azure Functions, Azure Service Fabric, Redis Cache, Cosmos DB, etc.
- Excellent skills in monitoring, tracing, profiling, and diagnosing distributed software services, system internals, databases, and transactions on the cloud, with the ability to quickly grasp and resolve complex technical issues.
- Excellent skills in analyzing and depicting patterns and trends from data collected from multiple sources.
- Strong ability to define meaningful and achievable Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills with the ability to collaborate within a team environment and with cross‑functional peers to support Crestron initiatives.
- Organized and detail‑oriented with the ability to meet deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
- Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Power Shell or programming languages such as Java, C#.
- Strong skill in implementing and using cloud‑based monitoring, data collection, logging, visualization, tracing, dependency and code profiling tools such as Azure Monitoring, Azure Application Insights, Prometheus, Grafana, Jaeger, Dynatrace, etc.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills as you will be working with cross‑functional teams.
- Strong problem‑solving skills and root cause analysis.
- Ability to operate autonomously with minimum direction.
- Self‑starter with the ability to master new technology concepts quickly.
