Vaco is currently seeking a Cloud Platform Engineer for a 3-6M C2H opportunity that is located in Plano, TX 75024 (onsite 1-2 days per week). The Cloud Platform Engineer will optimize the IT infrastructure (servers / storage systems / cloud operations / IAM) and design and implement advanced server environments, enhancing storage solutions, and ensuring the highest levels of security and efficiency in the cloud operations.
The Cloud Platform Engineer will drive system reliability, performance, and security while guiding technical teams and supporting organizational growth and technological evolution.
- Hybrid Infrastructure Architecture – Lead the Design / Planning / Implementation / Testing / Enhancement of Scalable/Reliable Hybrid Infrastructure Spanning OnPrem Distributed Systems / Cloud Resources (Azure / AWS)
- Automation Transformation – Drive Automation Transformation by Replacing Manual / Bespoke / “Hand-Cranked” Processes (Server Builds / Firewall Rule Provisioning / Infrastructure Deployments) with Scripted / Standardized / Self-Service Models (“Pizza Builder” Style Options with Pre-Approved Configurations)
- IaC / CI/CD – Build / Maintain Centralized Code Repositories (GITHub) / CI/CD Pipelines to Enable Reproducible / Auditable Infrastructure Deployments
- Observability / Monitoring – Implement Observability / Monitoring Integrations (New Relic [required] / Datadog / Solar Winds) Where New Resources Automatically Receive Dashboards / Alerting
- Cost Optimization – Proactively Optimize Cloud Spending Through Cost Analysis / Resource Right-Sizing / Automated Policies | Identify / Implement Savings Opportunities without Impacting Developer Experience
- Advanced Troubleshooting – Troubleshoot / Resolve Complex Issues Across Cloud Operations / IAM / Storage / Servers / Hybrid Environments | Provide Expert-Level Support to Reduce Misconfigurations / Remediation Cycles
- Technical Evaluation / Innovation – Conduct Technical Assessments / Proofs-of-Concept for Emerging Tools / Technologies to Support Strategic Innovation and Long-Term Goals (Fully Abstracted / Location-Agnostic Infrastructure)
- Team Collaboration / Enablement – Collaborate with a Small Infrastructure Team (~8 Supporting 300+ Developers) to Introduce Standardization / Reduce Human Dependency / Shift Focus From Manual Execution to Approval / Governance
The Director of Network / Infrastructure Services was specifically brought on to modernize the organization and within that endeavor, the need for a strong Cloud Platform Engineer emerged. The Platform Engineer must be a hands-on Leader with strong Terraform / Azure / AWS experience with a proven track record in real-world automation. This Cloud Platform Engineer will be the key addition that will break the cycle of manual, error-prone processes that currently consume the team, including hand-crafted firewall rules, bespoke server builds, and weekly remediation meetings.
The Cloud Platform Engineer will own the introduction of IaC and CI/CD practices, mentor smaller / eager teams to help them level-up, drive incremental automation wins every quarter, and eventually shape a true self-service platform for 300+ developers. This is a greenfield transformation opportunity inside a stable company.
