Distinguished Engineers are expected to lead through technical contribution. You will operate as a trusted advisor for our key technologies, platforms and capability domains, creating clear and concise communications, code samples, blog posts and other material to share knowledge both inside and outside the organization. You will specialize in a particular subject area, but your input and impact will be sought and expected throughout the organization.

In this role, as a member of the Network Connectivity organization, you will define strategy, build technical roadmaps and drive cross-functional execution for the Capital One network connectivity evolution, cloud integration and automation framework. For success in this role, the ideal candidate should have proven expertise in developing large enterprise/carrier MPLS network routing, switching and load‑balancing designs, scaling and evolving SDWAN, DNS, IPAM architectures and defining IPv4 to IPv6 network implementation strategy.

Experience with multiple single application focused Cloud/AWS accounts, Route
53 integration with traditional on‑premises network infrastructure will be required in order to deliver on future responsibilities.

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree
• At least 7 years of experience in Network engineering and architecture
• At least 7 years of experience in Cloud computing (AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud)

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Computer Science or a related field
• 10+ years of professional experience in the full lifecycle of system development, from conception through architecture, implementation, testing, deployment and production support
• 10+ years of experience in Software Engineering or Software Development
• 10+ years of professional experience coding in commonly used languages like Java, Python, Go, JavaScript/Type Script, Swift, etc.
• 5+ years of experience with automation platforms (Ansible, Python or Git)
