Overview
A Production Support Engineer ensures that critical applications and services run smoothly in live, customer facing environments. This role focuses on incident resolution, system monitoring, root cause analysis, and maintaining the overall reliability and performance of production systems. The engineer serves as a key liaison between operations, development, and infrastructure teams.
Key Responsibilities- Monitor production applications and systems to ensure uptime, performance, and availability
- Troubleshoot and resolve incidents across application, database, infrastructure, and network layers
- Perform root cause analysis on recurring issues and implement longterm corrective actions
- Support deployments, configuration changes, and release activities
- Maintain and improve monitoring, alerting, and logging tools
- Collaborate with development and QA teams to understand new features and potential operational impacts
- Create and update runbooks, documentation, and knowledge articles
- Participate in oncall rotation and respond to high priority incidents
- Work with infrastructure teams to address environment related issues (servers, storage, networking, integrations)
- Ensure compliance with operational standards, security policies, and change management processes
- Identify areas for automation to improve reliability and reduce manual intervention
- Experience supporting applications in production or mission critical environments
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills
- Familiarity with Linux/Windows servers, log analysis, and system monitoring tools
- Basic understanding of databases (SQL/No
SQL), APIs, and application architecture - Experience with ticketing systems, incident management, and oncall workflows
- Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and nontechnical stakeholders
- Experience with cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP)
- Scripting/automation skills (Python, Bash, Power Shell)
- Familiarity with CI/CD tools and release pipelines
- Knowledge of container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Understanding of ITIL processes (Incident, Problem, Change Management)
- Calm and effective under pressure, especially during critical incidents
- Strong problem solving mindset and attention to detail
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fastpaced environment
- Customer-focused approach with a commitment to system reliability
This is a Contract position based out of Plano, TX.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $46.35 - $46.35/hr.
