Senior Platform Engineer

Job Summary

Senior Platform Engineer at RTX – a leading aerospace and defense company. The role supports an agile product team with infrastructure design, provisioning, deployment, and emerging IaC automation technologies.

Plano, TX – onsite. Applicants must be in the area or be willing to relocate.

Active Top Secret clearance required; U.S. citizenship required.

• Leverage best practices to deploy, implement, modernize, and support infrastructure-as-code solutions.
• Write IaC scripts to transition systems to a modern platform infrastructure.
• Design, architect, develop, and support build/test pipelines; optimize integration for performance and scalability in physical or virtualized environments.
• Customize and automate software tools—including templates, dashboards, and scripts—using Ansible Playbooks.
• Collaborate with DT, GSS Security, software, and system engineers to design mission solutions.
• Integrate security and compliance—including encryption and access management—into the platform.
• Provide operational support for the platform.

• STEM degree and minimum 5 years of relevant experience.
• Experience with infrastructure automation and configuration‑management tools such as Terraform and/or Ansible.
• Experience with Linux and Windows operating systems and virtualization technologies.
• Experience with software deployment and integration.
• Experience with Agile development methodologies (Scrum, SAFe).
• Current CompTIA Security+ or ability to obtain within 90 days.
• Active and transferable U.S. government‑issued Top Secret clearance.
• U.S. citizenship.

• Experience deploying, configuring, and supporting CI/CD pipeline tools (Jira, Confluence, Bit Bucket, Jenkins, Artifactory, Git Lab).
• Background in COTS/FOSS product installation, configuration, and integration.
• Experience designing, implementing, and integrating platform infrastructure services using IaC.
• Multi‑disciplined infrastructure experience (server, storage, network hardware).
• Experience with programming languages (Python, Java, Ruby, Bash, C++, C#, Go).
• Experience troubleshooting performance, reliability, and availability across Linux/Windows platforms.
• Experience with containerization technologies (Kubernetes, Docker, Podman, Helm, Rancher).

Salary range: $86,800 – $165,200 (USD).
