The Business Resilience Architect & Design Team Lead holds overall accountability for enterprise resilience assessments, resiliency architecture, disaster recovery (DR) strategy, and resilience design governance across business and technology domains. This role leads the resilience architecture and design function, ensuring critical services, applications, infrastructure, and operational processes meet organizational resilience objectives, recovery requirements, regulatory expectations, and business continuity standards. The position combines strategic leadership, architecture governance, stakeholder management, and technical resilience expertise to build and maintain resilient business and IT ecosystems.
Key Responsibilities
• Own and lead the enterprise Business Resilience Architecture and Design function.
• Define and maintain enterprise resilience architecture principles, standards, frameworks, and governance models.
• Establish enterprise-wide disaster recovery (DR) and resiliency strategies aligned with business priorities and risk appetite.
• Provide leadership and direction to resilience architects, analysts, and design teams.
• Drive continuous improvement of resilience capabilities across technology, operations, and business services.
• Collaborate with executive leadership, risk management, cybersecurity, infrastructure, cloud, and application teams to align resilience objectives.
• Lead enterprise resilience assessments, business impact analyses (BIA), and criticality evaluations.
• Evaluate current-state resilience maturity and identify gaps, risks, and improvement opportunities.
• Conduct resilience reviews for applications, infrastructure platforms, cloud environments, and third-party services.
• Define Recovery Time Objectives (RTO), Recovery Point Objectives (RPO), and service resilience requirements.
• Ensure resilience controls and recovery capabilities align with regulatory and compliance obligations.
• Design resilient enterprise architectures supporting high availability, recoverability, fault tolerance, and operational continuity.
• Review and approve solution architectures from a resilience and recoverability perspective.
• Provide architectural guidance for cloud resilience, hybrid infrastructure, backup strategies, replication, failover, and multi-region designs.
• Ensure resilience-by-design principles are integrated into all major transformation and modernization programs.
• Lead development of standardized resilience patterns, reference architectures, and DR design templates.
• Develop and maintain enterprise DR strategies, frameworks, and operational models.
• Oversee DR planning, testing, simulation exercises, and validation activities.
• Ensure DR capabilities are documented, tested, and continuously improved.
• Coordinate enterprise-wide recovery exercises and post-test remediation initiatives.
• Drive automation and modernization of DR processes and recovery orchestration.
• Lead and mentor resilience architecture and design teams.
• Engage with business stakeholders to understand critical service dependencies and resilience expectations.
• Act as the primary escalation and advisory point for resilience architecture decisions.
• Manage vendor relationships and evaluate third-party resilience capabilities.
• Support audits, regulatory reviews, and executive reporting related to resilience posture.
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, Risk Management, or related field.
• 10+ years of experience in IT infrastructure, enterprise architecture, business continuity, disaster recovery, or resilience engineering.
• 5+ years in leadership or architecture governance roles.
• Strong experience designing enterprise DR and resilience solutions across cloud and on-premises environments.
• Deep understanding of business continuity planning (BCP), disaster recovery, operational resilience, and high availability architectures.
• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
• Strong understanding of infrastructure, networking, storage, virtualization, databases, and application architectures.
• Knowledge of regulatory and industry standards such as ISO 22301, NIST, ITIL, DORA, or FFIEC.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
