As a Principal Architect within the CIB Payments, you provide expertise to enhance and develop architecture platforms based on modern cloud‑based technologies, and support the adoption of strategic global solutions. Responsibilities
  • Engage business and technology stakeholders to discuss and propose design approaches that meet current and future needs of various business initiatives.
  • Build trusted relationships with business and technical decision makers to provide business and technical thought leadership.
  • Identify opportunities to modernize platform capabilities in alignment with business initiatives.
  • Define strategy and roadmap for product go‑to‑market, including the breakdown of technical delivery.
  • Define the target state of the product and drive achievement of the strategy.
  • Participate in architecture governance bodies.
  • Evaluate recommendations and provide feedback on business needs, options to get to market.
  • Execute creative software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or decompose technical problems.
  • Identify opportunities to eliminate or automate remediation of recurring issues to improve overall operational stability of software applications and systems.
  • Lead evaluation sessions with external vendors, startups, and internal teams to assess architectural designs, technical credentials, and applicability for use within existing systems and information.
  • Show practical cloud‑native experience.
  • Present and effectively communicate to Senior Leaders and Executives.
Qualifications
  • Hands‑on practical experience over 15+ years in delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability in the acquiring payments industry.
  • Strategic mindset in shaping digital transformation for payments, including digital onboarding, self‑servicing experience for clients, partner integration, and developer experience.
  • Strong experience in web development frameworks, web architecture, and mobile frameworks.
  • Strong experience in APIs – standards, functional governance.
  • Strong experience in identity and access management, including partner integration via APIs or web.
  • Strong experience in acquiring/merchant services payment understanding.
  • Experience with in‑store or eCommerce merchant payments.
  • Ability to understand business requirements, create solution designs, develop technical delivery roadmaps.
  • Strong technical background with design and delivery experience using software patterns and principles.
  • Advanced knowledge of one or more software, applications, and architecture disciplines.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in software applications and technical processes within a discipline (e.g., cloud, artificial intelligence, machine learning, mobile).
  • Experience as a functional architect (business/product).
  • Experience with domain modeling, understanding business process flow, client experience, and use cases.
  • Understanding of business capabilities, features taxonomy.
  • Ability to present and effectively communicate to Senior Leaders and Executives.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Point of Sale experience is a plus.
  • Cloud certification is a plus.
