Network Engineer, Systems Engineer

The Engineer 4, Excellence in Operations is responsible for designing, configuring, deploying, monitoring, and troubleshooting LAN/WAN network infrastructure, including SD‑WAN, IP routers, switches, firewalls, telephony equipment, hardware, software, and communication services. This role works directly with customers to resolve network issues, optimizes network and system performance, and serves as a technical point of contact for internal engineers.

- Hands‑on SD‑WAN/IP router/switch/firewall/telephony customer premises equipment
- Design, configure and deploy LAN and WAN network connections, hardware, software and communication links and services.
- Optimize the network and systems services and troubleshoot any network performance issues.
- Responsible for the service provision and monitoring of the network infrastructure to company standards.
- Works directly with customers to troubleshoot and resolve network issues.
- Is a technical point of contact for other internal engineers.
- Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.
- Regular, consistent and punctual attendance. Must be able to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) and overtime as necessary.
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
- Specific knowledge and 5 to 8 years’ experience with Fortinet primarily but also with Cisco and Juniper routers.
- Strong knowledge of internetworking designs and their applications and routing.
- Solid knowledge of Layer 2 and Layer 3 internetworking technologies.
- 5 to 8 years’ experience with protocols.
- Extensive firewall experience with Fortinet 60F/80F, Cisco ASA, Juniper SRX and Checkpoint NG.
- Extensive experience with Cisco switches and routers.
- Certifications:
Fortinet Professional (required), Fortinet Expert (preferred), CCNA, CCNP, CCIE.
Bachelor’s Degree
While possessing the stated degree is preferred, we also consider applicants who hold a combination of coursework and experience, or who have extensive related professional experience.

SalaryPay Range:
This job can be performed in Illinois with a Pay Range of $90,784.82 - $. Comcast intends to offer the selected candidate base pay within this range, dependent on job‑related, non‑discriminatory factors such as experience.
