Infrastructure Engineer II

Position Summary

Provide middleware administration duties for critical banking platforms, end‑to‑end, including Web Sphere, jBoss, Tomcat, Apache, IBM HTTP Server, and WXS (extreme scale cache). Deliver middleware enterprise projects and regulatory legislative initiatives while ensuring production stability and timely patching. Serve as a J2EE architect, recommend J2EE best practices, design high‑availability infrastructure, and provide technical consultation across the organization.

• Create infrastructure tools and integrate them as services, facilitating deployment via templates, playbooks, and automation.
• Enhance efficiency during implementation and maintenance of tools/services, embracing continuous improvement.
• Administer middleware servers: installation, configuration, performance tuning, and production support.
• Work with application and testing teams, providing middleware and Java support.
• Maintain application deployment templates.
• Serve as a J2EE architect, recommending best practices for application development.
• Design middleware infrastructure and topology for high availability and failover.
• Ensure all solutions meet policy, baseline, and standards alongside business requirements.
• Provide technical consultation to team members and support areas.
• Communicate with business partners at an enterprise level.
• Interface with internal customers and external vendors throughout the SDLC.
• Execute production changes for integrated and regulatory releases with precision.
• Offer subject‑matter expertise, translating business requirements into technical definitions, reference models, blueprints, and playbooks.
• Evaluate reference models, blueprints, and playbooks for fit‑for‑purpose.
• Develop software solutions to automate manual and repetitive tasks.
• Conduct on‑site evaluations of third‑party products for firm adoption.
• Promote an inclusive and healthy working environment, resolving organizational impediments.
• Contribute to functional and non‑functional product evaluation requirements across domains.

• Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• 7+ years of Information Technology experience with middleware products (Apache, J2EE, Java, JBoss, Web Sphere Application Server, Tomcat).
• Experience with BPM products (Appian) and Linux operating systems.
• Proficiency in shell, Jython, and Perl scripting.
• Strong understanding of network infrastructure (HTTP/S, TCP/IP, TLS, DNS, load‑balancers, firewalls, proxies, B2B links).
• Familiarity with release deployment tools (Ansible, Ansible Tower, XLR, Bit Bucket).
• Excellent oral and written communication skills and strong attention to detail.

• Prior Bank of America experience.
• Experience with Web Sphere Extreme Scale, BPM middleware administration.
• Dev Ops experience.
• Knowledge of BMC Truesight Server Automation, Harman mDeliver, Terraform.
