Infrastructure Automation Engineer

Plano, Texas (Hybrid)
This position is responsible for engineering the automation that builds, configures, and lifecycle-manages the Internal Cloud Hyperconverged Infrastructure (HCI) stack components. The role is accountable for reducing manual effort and operational risk by implementing automated, repeatable workflows. This enables the HCI stack to be deployed and evolved consistently through automated processes, supporting hosting platforms and core services.
Key Responsibilities- Engineer and maintain automation for building, configuring, and managing the Internal Cloud Hyperconverged Infrastructure stack.
- Develop and maintain Infrastructure-as-Code to expand automation coverage for provisioning and lifecycle management.
- Own and implement Infrastructure-as-Code and automation standards, reusable patterns, and engineering practices.
- Integrate automation into pipeline-driven delivery mechanisms for controlled updates and deployments.
- Collaborate with virtualization and platform teams to ensure automation supports the full HCI stack model.
- Support automation for hosting platforms such as Tanzu/Open Shift and network fabric configuration references.
- 4-5 years of experience engineering infrastructure automation in enterprise environments.
- Hands-on experience with Terraform or comparable Infrastructure-as-Code tooling.
- A working knowledge of Linux and scripting for automation and troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with virtualization or hyperconverged infrastructure concepts and how automation supports repeatable platform delivery.
- Primary Skill:
Terraform. - Secondary Skill:
Ansible. - Tertiary Skill: CI/CD.
- 5-7+ years delivering automation for cloud platforms, virtualization platforms, or infrastructure build pipelines.
- Terraform certification (Associate/Professional) or equivalent automation engineering training.
- Experience automating deployment or configuration for platform layers on top of HCI (e.g., Tanzu/Open Shift).
- Experience with automation associated with network fabric configuration dependencies.
- Experience working in regulated environments with disciplined change/release processes.
