Senior Director, Technical Program Management - FS Tech

As a Technical Program Manager, you’ll have the opportunity to be on the forefront of driving major technical transformations and scaling platform capabilities across Capital One.

What You’ll Do:

As a Sr. Director of Technical Program Management (TPM), we’re looking for someone that can help us lead programs that deliver on critical business goals and build large scale products & platforms that will help Capital One customers have incredible experiences.

In addition to the technical program, you will also work to pave the way for an expanding TPM discipline within the team, by leveraging your industry knowledge and experience to teach the organization what a great TPM can achieve.

Drive the end-to-end strategic roadmap and delivery for enterprise capabilities,, ensuring modernization, scalability, and alignment with business growth priorities
Effecting change management by implementing enterprise technology best practices through effective automation across the organization. This includes Cyber, Tech and Data risk initiatives to strengthen our well‑managed posture and eliminate manual controls.
Own executive communications on delivery status, program risk and long-term architectural decisions to drive enterprise-wide technology alignment
Establish and scale TPM best practices, governance frameworks, and OKR-based performance models that are adopted across multiple domains
Influence investment prioritization and ensure that platform decision optimize for long-term agility, resilience and cost efficiency
Mentor and develop TPM leaders, fostering a high-performance culture focused on technical excellence and delivery accountability
Decompose complex problems into practical and operational solutions
Ensure the quality of technical design and implementation

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in a technical field
At least 9 years of experience managing technical programs

Preferred Qualifications:

9+ years of experience designing and building solutions using distributed computing or service oriented architecture (SOA)
5+ years of experience in building distributed systems & highly available services using cloud computing services / architecture - preferably using AWS
5+ years of building & leading experienced TPM team or impacting multiple organizations as an IC
5+ years experience building highly scalable products & platforms
5+ years of experience with Agile delivery
5+ years years experience delivering large and complex programs - where you contribute to the business or technical vision, collaborate with large cross-functional teams, secure commitments on deliverables and unblock teams to land business impact
Experience in building systems & solutions within a highly regulated environment
Experience in the full lifecycle of system development, from conception through architecture, implementation, testing, deployment and production support
MBA or Master’s Degree in a related technical field (Computer Science, Software Engineering)
At least 10 years of experience designing and building data-intensive solutions using distributed computing
5+ years of experience leading software engineering teams
