Senior Shipping Coordinator / Logistics Specialist (Bilingual Japanese/English)
SummaryA global food ingredient manufacturer is seeking a highly skilled Senior Shipping Coordinator to join their growing team. This role is pivotal in managing the import of products from international production sites (primarily Japan and Malaysia) and ensuring seamless distribution to clients across the United States. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in logistics, specifically with ocean freight and customs brokerage coordination and will serve as a key bridge between the logistics, accounting, and sales departments.
This position offers a path for leadership, as you will be responsible for training and supervising subordinate staff while optimizing supply chain efficiency.
Logistics & Supply Chain: Oversee daily shipping arrangements, including ocean freight imports and domestic delivery coordination (DDP, FOB, CIF).
Vendor Management: Negotiate rates with freight forwarders and carriers to identify the most cost-effective and efficient transportation solutions.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with the Sales team to integrate logistics with order management and work closely with the Accounting department for month-end closing and invoicing.
Import Coordination: Manage communication with overseas production plants and handle customs-related documentation and adjustments.
Leadership: Supervise, train, and monitor subordinate employees; identify and implement process improvements for the logistics department.
Compliance & Administration: Maintain accurate shipping records, handle customer logistics claims, and ensure high ethical standards in all workplace activities.
Hours: Full-time, 7.5 hours per day (Standard business hours).
Status: Non-Exempt (Eligible for overtime).
Training: Ability to travel to California for initial training (approximately one week).
Office-Based: Plano, TX area (New office/lab location).
Travel: Local travel required; rare domestic or international travel may be necessary for business needs.
Salary: up to $28/hr
Bonus: Annual performance bonus.

Experience: Several years of logistics experience, preferably with a freight forwarder, trading company, or manufacturer.
Technical
Skills:
Deep understanding of Incoterms (DDP, FOB, CIF) and import/export procedures.Software: Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and Windows operating systems.
Physical: Ability to sit for extended periods and occasionally lift/move up to 50 lbs.
