The Park Planning Supervisor is responsible for developing and conducting projects related to the planning and implementation of Plano's Parks, Recreation, Trails, and Open Space Master Plan. The position implements and oversees projects within the Parks and Recreation Capital Investment Program, and supervises a team that focuses on urban forestry, trails construction, and GIS data management.

This role is 100 percent on-site, the City does not offer hybrid or remote options.

EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Supervises, hires, trains, and evaluates the performance of professional assigned staff within the team; makes hiring, dismissal, and disciplinary recommendations; ensures employee compliance with city policies; maintains staff work programs to include staff assignments, benchmarks, and procedures for completing team activities.
• Serves as the project manager for the planning, design, and/or construction of Parks and Recreation Capital Improvement Program projects.
• Manages and coordinates the activities, best management practices, and ordinance compliance of designers and/or contractors in the creation and execution of construction plans.
• Develops, implements, and monitors professional services and/or construction contracts for Parks Community Investment projects; serves in departmental lead role for Master Works.
• Evaluates Park and Recreation managed properties; recommends improvements and budgets to such properties and facilities, either as part of a Master Plan process or as a part of the Capital Improvement Program budget process.
• Implements the proper city purchasing and contracting processes to administer construction bids and evaluate construction design consultants.
• Prepares and/or delivers formal presentations to the Park and Recreation Planning Board and other boards, commissions, and citizen organizations.
• Develops general provisions, standard details, and technical specifications related to Parks and Recreation Capital Improvement Program projects to ensure that city standards are consistent with normally accepted construction practices and procedures; resolves planning, design, and/or construction problems to ensure compliance to city standards.
