Director of Safety & Risk Management
The Director of Safety & Risk Management is a senior leader responsible for designing, implementing, and continuously improving Talent Corps' enterprise-wide safety and risk programs. This role is the primary authority on workplace safety, OSHA compliance, workers' compensation, and liability mitigation, protecting our workforce, clients, and business across all sites.
Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, this leader partners with Operations, HR, Legal, Finance, and client account teams to embed a true safety culture throughout Talent Corps' staffing operations.
Key Responsibilities Safety Program Leadership- Design and govern Talent Corps' Safety Management System (SMS) aligned with OSHA, ANSI, and industry best practices
- Establish safety policies, field protocols, and pre-placement training for all placed workers
- Drive a company-wide safety culture through communication, recognition programs, and leadership engagement
- Identify and assess organizational risk across all client verticals (light industrial, skilled trades, professional)
- Manage insurance portfolio: workers' compensation, general liability, E&O, and umbrella coverage
- Serve as primary liaison with carriers, brokers, and third-party administrators (TPAs)
- Review client contracts for insurance requirements, indemnification language, and risk-transfer clauses
- Present quarterly risk reports to executive leadership
- Oversee end-to-end workers' comp claim lifecycle: intake, investigation, return-to-work, and closure
- Manage relationships with medical providers, IME vendors, and legal counsel
- Implement early intervention and transitional duty programs to reduce claim severity and duration
- Track and reduce the experience modification rate (EMR) as a core KPI
- Ensure compliance with federal and state OSHA regulations, DOT requirements, and applicable standards
- Manage OSHA 300/300A recordkeeping, reporting timelines, and audit readiness
- Respond to OSHA citations and represent Talent Corps in informal conferences
- Monitor regulatory changes and brief leadership proactively
- Lead root cause analysis for all recordable incidents and near-misses
- Maintain a near-miss reporting system to proactively identify hazards
- Produce monthly safety dashboards for executive and operational audiences
- Conduct pre-placement site audits and hazard assessments; elevate unacceptable conditions
- Partner with Sales and Account Management to differentiate Talent Corps on safety excellence
- Represent Talent Corps in client safety meetings, loss control reviews, and RFPs
- Lead and develop a safety team (coordinators, field specialists) aligned with Talent Corps values
- Manage external safety consultants, industrial hygienists, and loss control vendors
- 7+ years of progressive safety/risk experience; 3+ years at director or senior manager level
- Expertise in OSHA 1910 (General Industry) and 1926 (Construction)
- Proven workers' compensation program management and carrier relationship experience
- Strong data and analytics skills; able to present complex findings to executive audiences
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP) strongly preferred
- Staffing industry or multi-site/multi-client safety experience
- ARM (associate in risk management) or CPCU designation
- Bilingual English/Spanish is a significant advantage

Annual Bonus PlanThe Director of Safety & Risk Management is eligible for an annual bonus of up to 15% of base salary . The bonus has two parts:
Part 1 — Safety Results (up to 10%)This portion rewards measurable safety outcomes. Three metrics are tracked. Each pays independently, so strong performance in one area still earns a partial bonus even if another metric falls short.
Part 2 — Company Performance (up to 5%)This portion is tied to Talent Corps' overall financial results for the year, measured against the annual budget. It ensures the Director shares in both the mission and the business.
