Turret Blanking Operator

Prep, assemble, fit up, and fabricate metal components to assemble structural forms using knowledge of welding techniques and quality requirements.

• Read blueprints and drawings required for layout, assembly and weld functions.
• Set up components for welding according to specifications (e.g. manual and/or robotic welding machines) utilizing fixtures and positioning equipment.
• Weld components using GMAW (mig) welding equipment in various positions (flat, vertical, and horizontal positions).
• Adjust weld settings as needed to ensure acceptable weld quality.
• Execute robotic welding programs and troubleshoot basic errors.
• Perform pre-and-post weld inspection to verify key properties using appropriate tools.
• Conduct tests to check weld visual quality and dimension tolerance.
• Perform preventive maintenance on equipment.
• Adhere to safety, health, and environmental requirements.
• Report quality, safety, and environmental issues using appropriate channels.

• The individual is responsible for routine and preventative equipment maintenance duties.
• The individual is responsible for reporting potential and actual safety issues.

• Performs additional duties and tasks as assigned in relation to duties as a welder including, but not limited to, weld prep, reporting quality defects, requesting materials, delivering materials, and participating in audits.

Required:

• High School diploma or equivalent

Required:

• Experience reading and interpreting fabrication drawings.

Preferred:

• Experience with robotic welding operation
• Overhead and/or jib crane operation
• Experience reading and interpreting weld maps
• Experience with OSHA regulations

Exceptional:

• Experience training others in welding or other fabrication skills
• Experience with CNC, press break, or blanking fabrication
• Experience with powder coating systems

• Experience welding with GMAW (mig) on mild or low alloy steel
• Experience with fit up and assembly of welded components
• Knowledge of welding equipment
• Ability to read and understand technical drawings such as fabrication drawings
• Ability to understand tolerances and fabricate parts within allowance
