Director of Social Media and Culture
Reporting to the Senior Director Owned Media of Mobile(MX) Marketing, the Director of Social Media and Culture will take a pivotal role in shaping and defining Samsung's brand in the USA along with driving revenue growth across our mobile product categories (Smartphones, PCs, Tablets, Wearables (Watch/Audio/Ring). This role will manage Samsung's social media, influencer/creator programs, and community engagement initiatives.
This person will be responsible for managing and driving our Owned Social and Influencer/Creator/Talent strategy and execution, including:
- Samsung's Organic Social presence across social platforms
- Samsung's Creator/Influencer program, comprising a mix of "celeb" Influencers and Micro/Macro Creators (#Team Galaxy)
- Samsung's Nano community creator program that help drive social conversation at scale
- Samsung's Members program that engages with our most loyal fans and celebrates their love for our products
- Driving Samsung's place in Culture in the US
The objectives of this role are simple:
- Drive cultural relevancy that puts the Samsung brand on the map in the US, causing people to follow us and engage with our brand
- Create insane social conversation, both on and off Samsung platforms that deliver a disproportionate share of voice for us
- Showcase Samsung innovation with human-powered stories and content that fuels desire for our products, and drives people to want to touch/try devices in real life

You will rapidly become the "go-to" resource for guidance and will need to act with confidence and strong leadership.
You'll be working heavily with Samsung's internal teams in Korea to align on global-local strategies and implementations. You'll work heavily with our Carrier and Retail stakeholders to ensure maximum value and amplification.
This is a fast-paced environment with a great mix of strategic planning, rapid execution and a bit of hustle!
Position Objective
- Develop a comprehensive social media and influencer strategy to meet earned media targets per brand, leading the development of all social media campaigns for organic social media accounts, and collaborating with the paid media team to leverage high-performing organic content
- Partner with the Agency of Record(s) to define immediate and long-term playbooks, guiding a team on platform growth strategy
- Own the full influencer mix from nano to macro to celebs, developing a strategy that optimizes influencer performance and adapts to changes in the creator ecosystem
- Provide thought leadership in developing brand storytelling across all social media platforms, advising on narrative trends that complement brand strategies and high-performing formats
- Own the social media KPI scorecard focused on brand and commercial contribution, working in partnership with the x-functional Samsung and Agency Partner team, and leveraging reporting tools
- Partner and collaborate with cross-functional teams to regularly optimize and refine social strategy and content
- Assist in social/talent shoots, as needed
- Build and maintain strong relationships with representatives of key social platforms and tools
- Participate in regional and global meetings and check-ins, as needed
- Develop and maintain a global social media calendar across all platforms
- Manage the organization and receipt of all creative assets from the respective teams
- Negotiate & execute commercial terms & contracts – working with internal stakeholders such as Legal, Finance, Compliance and Procurement
- Track, analyze and report against marketing KPIs and metrics, and take corrective action where needed
- Identify synergies between your programs and our Carrier/Retail account teams and their specific needs to ensure that Carriers/Retailers achieve their goals
- Drive all communications assets, advertising, promotional materials and PR inputs related to your initiatives, working closely with agency partners and x-functional teams
- Work closely with Finance to ensure all plans are within budget, and all approvals handled within compliance and guidelines
- Ensure that the x-functional team across the organization is fully aware of your programs and activities and leverage them in the maximum way possible (e.g. integrating into retail or CRM communications)
