Medical Oncology Advanced Practice Provider- Plano East

Overview

Texas Oncology is looking for an Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to join our team in Plano East, Medical Oncology. This full‑time position will support the oncology department. Typical hours:
Mon‑Fri 8:30 a‑5:00 p. The APP level will be 1, 2 or Sr based on candidate experience.

The primary role of the APP is to provide direct diagnostic and therapeutic patient care, in collaboration with practice physicians. The APP impacts quality of patient care and patient outcomes throughout the care continuum. APPs support and adhere to the US Oncology Compliance Program, including the Code of Ethics and Business Standards.

• Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates care for patients.
• Initiates and documents appropriate interventions; evaluates and records patient/family response and prescribes therapies as indicated.
• Performs procedures after appropriate training.
• Assesses patient/family needs and provides education.
• Promotes wellness and recommends community resources to meet patient and family needs.
• Incorporates evolving evidence‑based research into clinical practice.
• Develops knowledge of reimbursement procedures and documentation requirements.
• Completes patient charge capture and medical record documentation in a timely manner.
• May provide case management for patients and their families, given limited knowledge of community resources.
• May promote/provide staff education.
• Responsibilities may include rounding at affiliated hospitals and weekend or after‑hour calls.

The ideal candidate for the Advanced Practice Provider position will have the following background and experience.

• Primarily for Nurse Practitioner: Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) from an accredited nursing school and successful completion of a Nurse Practitioner program. Entry‑level, requires 0–3 years post‑MSN experience, RN state licensure, current registration with State Board of Nursing, current state licensure as Nurse Practitioner, BLS/CPR certification.
• For Physician Assistant: Successful completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program, current NCCPA certification, entry‑level, 0–3 years experience, state license as PA, BLS/CPR certification.
• For Clinical Nurse Specialist: MSN from accredited school and successful completion of a Clinical Nurse Specialist program, entry‑level, 0–3 years post‑MSN experience, RN licensure, current state licensure as Clinical Nurse Specialist, BLS/CPR certification.

Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, eye‑hand coordination, standing and walking for extensive periods, occasionally lifting up to 40 lbs; corrected vision and hearing to normal range.

Exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medical preparations, and other conditions common to an oncology/hematology clinic environment.
