Day Surgery

PRN Days – Mon-Fri 7:00-7:30. Minimum of 4 shifts per 6 weeks plus 1 minor and major holiday per year.

Day Surgery RN experience preferred or a minimum of 5 years of inpatient RN experience required. Strong IV skills and ability to work in a busy fast‑paced environment.

Surgical and procedural patients, including pre‑ and post‑GI and IR patients, ortho, breast reconstruction, GYN, urology, colorectal.

1:4. Typical census 30‑35 patients per day.

The Registered Nurse on Unit is a key player in patient care management, following our nursing practice model. They work with other health care staff to deliver patient care effectively. Our Registered Nurses use the nursing process efficiently. They diagnose patient responses to health issues and create care plans accordingly. It includes evaluating healthcare needs and responses.

• Prioritize needs. Create, implement, and assess care plan to achieve outcomes. Adapt plan as necessary.
• Observe indicators closely, support evidence‑based changes with research and hands‑on learning.
• Create a caring, safe environment for patients, families, and staff.
• Build relationships with boundaries in mind. Focus on managing emotional and physical pain to promote healing and reduce suffering.
• Facilitate learning for all members of the healthcare team, including patients, families, and nursing staff, ensuring everyone is well‑informed.
• Collaborate effectively with colleagues and the community to develop and execute an integrated plan of care.
• Use problem‑solving strategies and utilize available resources to support patients, family and staff as part of a systems thinking approach.

• Familiarity with nursing and patient care standards and procedures.
• Awareness of legal requirements and standards of certification and accreditation bodies, including the specifics of the hospital and respective department/unit.
• Good command of medical terminology, with a focus on healthcare promotion, risk reduction, and disease prevention.
• Effective communication skills, along with social aptitude for interacting with diverse stakeholders.
• Possessing critical thinking and problem‑solving skills is crucial.
• Capability to identify and report changes in patient conditions, develop, and modify patient care plans as required.
• Basic computer skills necessary for day‑to‑day assignments.

• Completion of an accredited course or at least 2 years of experience surpassing the minimum qualification required.
• Field of Study:
  Nursing is the applicable major.
• A minimum of 2 years in a relevant role is expected or a minimum of 5 years of inpatient RN experience required.
• Certification:
  Hold a BLS certificate now or obtain within 30 days of starting in this role.
