Responsibilities- Maintain appropriate nursing service obligations, goals, and standards of nursing practices consistent with licensure requirements and the Nurse Practice Act.
- Oversee, direct, and coordinate nursing staff to provide proper resident care consistent with standard nursing practices.
- Participate in screening prospective residents as well as ongoing assessment of resident needs.
- Ensure staff adherence to appropriate infection control procedures, quality assurance programs, and OSHA procedures are followed.
- Act as the liaison between the facility and other outside caregivers.
- Conduct employee conferences, counseling, and evaluations; participate in hiring new nursing employees and the orientation process; assist in ongoing in‑service education of nursing staff.
- Adhere to the nursing service budget.
- Assume responsibility/authority for decision regarding all aspects of nursing care; consult with the Director of Assisted Living, nurse consultants, and other resources.
- Ensure provision of appropriate medications, treatments, and nursing services according to care plans and physicians’ instructions.
- Monitor and control inventories of drugs and supplies.
- Notify the Director of Assisted Living, physician, and family or responsible party in the event of a significant change in the resident’s condition.
- Formulate plan of care based on a resident assessment and complete resident care attendant assignments based on the resident’s needs.
- Attend all department head meetings, staff meetings and serve on appropriate committees as deemed necessary by the Director of Assisted Living.
- Current, valid licensure as an RN or LVN in the State of practice.
- Knowledge regarding licensure requirements in long‑term healthcare or assisted living.
- Two or more years of experience in an assisted living setting providing care to geriatric‑age patients.
