Job Overview
Fusion Medical Staffing seeks a travel nurse RN OR – Operating Room for a 13-week assignment in Plano, Texas. The role requires a 12-hour shift, 36 hours per week, starting ASAP. Compensation is based on a 12-hour shift schedule with a tax-free stipend amount to be determined.
Responsibilities- Prepare the operating room, ensuring all instruments, equipment, and sterile supplies are ready and functional for each surgical procedure.
- Assist in positioning and preparing patients for surgery, addressing concerns and ensuring comfort and safety according to procedural requirements.
- Maintain a sterile field throughout surgical procedures and adhere to infection control protocols and sterile technique.
- Anticipate the needs of the surgical team, providing instruments, supplies, and support promptly to maintain efficient workflow.
- Monitor the patient’s condition during surgery, documenting significant changes and notifying the surgeon.
- Handle surgical instruments and supplies, ensuring their proper use, sterilization, and disposal according to facility protocols.
- Manage specimen collection, labeling, and transport according to facility protocols, ensuring accurate diagnostic results.
- Document all aspects of patient care in the perioperative setting accurately and thoroughly.
- Participate in patient handoff communication during pre- and post-operative phases, ensuring continuity of care.
- Assist in cleaning and restocking the operating room between cases, adhering to infection control and turnover protocols.
- Collaborate with the surgical team to ensure compliance with facility policies, procedures, and standards.
- Follow hospital safety rules and procedures, including proper use of personal protective equipment and infection prevention measures.
- Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of practice.
- One year of recent experience as an Operating Room RN.
- Valid RN license in compliance with state regulations.
- Current BLS certification (AHA/ARC).
- Physical ability to remain stationary, move equipment (50-100 lbs), push, pull, and bend.
- Strong interpersonal communication skills and critical-thinking ability.
- Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English.
- Basic PC skills.
- ACLS, PALS, or ENPC certifications.
- OR Nursing Certification (CNOR).
- Additional certifications or licenses as required by the position.
