Department Specifics

We are a Comprehensive Stroke Center providing a wide range of interventions. We also provide surgical interventions not only in the OR suite but also at bedside in the ICU. Our Intensive Care group opened the facility in 2004 and we have several ANPs.

Job Summary

As a Registered Nurse, oversee patient care using a professional practice model. Responsibilities include patient assessment, recognizing health issues, creating care plans, and assessing patient responses. Secure patient travel. Know about patient needs in healthcare. Help patients and prevent issues. Follow the Texas Nursing Practice Act and delegate tasks based on condition and team competencies.

Essential Functions of the Role
  • Conduct detailed clinical assessments and prioritize patient and family needs. Create, implement, and evaluate care plans. Adjust plans to reach desired outcomes.
  • Build relationships, manage discomfort, and stay professional in therapeutic connections with patients and families.
  • Create care plans reflecting values to aid in resolving issues.
  • Educate patients, families, nurses, and community members; empower them with knowledge for better healthcare choices.
  • Work with colleagues and community to create a care plan. Delegate tasks carefully and follow up promptly.
  • Use different strategies for problem‑solving with patients, families, and staff; recognize limitations and prioritize safety, effectiveness, and efficiency in patient care planning and delivery.
  • Achieve goals through teamwork, recognize contributions, commit to growth, and contribute to peers' development and commitment to community service.

  • Deep understanding of nursing and patient care standards and procedures.
  • Knowledge of nursing laws, rules, standards, and guidelines in the area.
  • Proficiency in medical terms, focusing on health, disease prevention, management, common medications, and side effects.
  • Respect for medical and professional nursing ethics and patient privacy rights.
  • Exceptional communication skills, clear expression of thoughts verbally and in writing.
  • Positive social skills to facilitate interactions with diverse parties.
  • Excellent problem‑solving capabilities and effective critical thinking.
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office, information security, scheduling and payroll systems, electronic medical documentation, and email.

Qualifications
  • Graduate of an accredited program.
  • Minimum of 2 years ICU RN experience.
  • Specialized field of study in nursing.
  • RN license.
  • BLS certification or obtain within 30 days of starting the role.
