Baylor Scott & White Medical Center Plano – Intensive Care Unit (RN)

Location: BSW Plano

Shift: Full‑Time; 3 shifts per 12‑hour period (Day/Night/Evening)

Requirements: Minimum 2 years of ICU RN experience

Patient Population: Adult Mixed Medical/Surgical ICU with heavy neurological component;
Patient Ratio: 1:2;
Number of Beds: 32

Job Summary

As a Registered Nurse, you will oversee patient care using a professional practice model. Responsibilities include patient assessment, recognizing health issues, creating care plans, and assessing patient responses. You will secure patient travel, respond to patient needs, and follow the Texas Nursing Practice Act and delegate tasks based on condition and team competencies.

Essential Functions of the Role
  • Conduct detailed clinical assessments and prioritize patient and family needs; create, implement, and evaluate care plans.
  • Build relationships, manage discomfort, maintain professionalism in therapeutic interactions.
  • Create care plans that reflect patient values to resolve issues.
  • Educate patients, families, nurses, and the community; assess and document learning needs.
  • Work with colleagues to create care plans; delegate tasks and follow up promptly.
  • Apply problem‑solving strategies with patients, families, and staff; prioritize safety, effectiveness, and efficiency.
  • Achieve goals through teamwork, recognize contributions, and commit to professional growth.

Qualifications
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
  • Minimum 2 years of ICU RN experience.
  • Registered Nurse license.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or obtain within 30 days.
