Infusion RN Sr.- Plano Prestonwood

Overview

Texas Oncology is looking for an Infusion Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team at the Plano Prestonwood location. The position is full‑time Monday–Friday 8:30 am–5:00 pm with no weekends, call, or major holidays.

Under minimal supervision, the RN provides professional nursing care for patients, adhering to national and company standards and guidelines. The RN demonstrates knowledge of physiological, psychological, and developmental differences in the patient population, collaborates with the interdisciplinary team for assessment and therapeutic management of patient and family needs, and supports compliance with the US Oncology Compliance Program, including the Code of Ethics and Business Standards.

• Plan, implement, coordinate, evaluate and promote continuity of care consistent with established standards and practices.
• Assess patient/family needs and provide teaching and other instructional material.
• Prepare and administer therapies under the direction and supervision of a physician.
• Administer all medications/blood products using correct medication/blood product, dosage/amount, route, time and technique.
• Assure pre‑authorization and appropriate consent forms are obtained prior to administration of therapies where applicable.
• Facilitate dose modification by assessing patient, assessing labs, consulting protocol or treatment plan, calculating dose, and consulting physician regarding dosage modifications, problems and symptom management.
• Perform venipuncture, access implanted ports and maintain central line catheter devices.
• Maintain accurate documentation of assigned patient care and treatments provided.
• Apply knowledge of reimbursement procedures and charge capture.

• Education
  • Graduate from an accredited professional nursing education program; BSN preferred.
  • RN state license and current registration with the State Board of Nursing in the practicing state.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Must maintain continuing education requirements.
• Experience
  • Level I:
    Entry level – 0–3 years nursing experience; oncology experience strongly preferred.
  • Level II:
    Minimum three (3) years nursing experience; oncology experience strongly preferred.
  • Level Senior:
    Minimum five (5) years nursing experience, including at least one year in oncology strongly preferred; oncology certification preferred.

Full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, eye‑hand coordination. Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time. Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 40 lbs. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
