Position Overview

Registered Nurse Preop PACU at Surg Center of Plano provides continuity and quality nursing care for all patients upon arrival, with continual evaluation of their condition to ensure patient safety, comfort, and privacy at all times. The RN may assist physicians in the procedure rooms with conscious sedation, using sterile techniques as deemed appropriate, and provide comprehensive care to patients emerging from general anesthesia and/or sedation, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of the patient and family in preparation for discharge.

• Provide continuity and quality nursing care in the PACU for all patients.
• Assist physicians during procedure rooms with conscious sedation and sterile techniques.
• Perform assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patients and their families in preparation for discharge.
• Ensure patient safety, comfort, and privacy at all times.
• Work weekdays only – no holidays, weekends, nights, or calls.

• Graduate of an accredited RN School of Nursing.
• Active RN license in the state.
• BLS and ACLS required; PALS if required by the center.
• At least 2 years experience in PACU or Critical Care preferred.
• Ability to make decisions based on nursing judgment.
• Ability to prioritize and organize workload to meet the needs of patients and the unit.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
