Position Overview
The Nurse Manager provides 24/7 accountability and operational leadership for the Cardiac Stepdown unit, ensuring a safe, efficient, and patient-centered environment. This role is responsible for clinical quality, staff development, patient and employee satisfaction, and budget management while aligning with the hospitals mission, vision, and values.
This leader fosters excellence in nursing practice through evidence-based care, team collaboration, and continuous performance improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure high-quality, individualized nursing care through evidence-based practices and the nursing process.
- Maintain 24/7 accountability for patient outcomes, staff performance, and unit operations.
- Demonstrate leadership in staff recruitment, development, and retention.
- Develop and implement operational and clinical goals with patient safety as a primary focus.
- Manage budgets and monitor financial performance to maintain target expense levels.
- Promote employee engagement, patient satisfaction, and physician collaboration.
- Support community health initiatives and lifelong learning within the department.
- Ensure compliance with infection prevention, TJC patient safety goals, and hospital policies.
- Actively review occurrence reporting systems and use data to drive safety and quality improvements.
- Educate staff on reporting medical errors or unanticipated outcomes to promote transparency and accountability.
Qualifications
- 2+ years of recent Acute Care Critical Care leadership experience required (progressive leadership experience preferred).
- Prior experience in Magnet or Pathways-designated facilities strongly preferred.
- BSN required; MSN or Masters degree in a related field preferred.
- Texas RN license or compact license accepted.
- National Specialty Certification or plan to achieve within one year of hire.
- BLS and ACLS required.

- Midpoint: $106,059/year
- Maximum: $127,274/year (based on years of experience)
