Summary

Quality Engineer will develop and maintain quality systems according to standards and assist customers with any issues.

Essential Functions
  • Ongoing testing of parts (Functional, Dimensional, Physical properties, etc.)
  • Create, update and maintain Quality Documentation, Customer Contact Reports, Customer Sort Reports, and other related information.
  • Serve as a focal point of contact for internal and external customers.
  • Participate in and initiate cross‑functional teams to solve problems and eliminate quality issues.
  • Travel to support customers and resolve problems.
  • Participate in product‑development meetings to review engineering changes, manufacturing methods, planning, and process specifications related to product quality.
  • Coordinate with customers regarding quality‑performance trends and corrective action.
  • Communicate production and quality issues with employees and supervisors when necessary.
  • Develop and support all APQP documentation required for PPAP, PSO, etc., and prepare and submit APQP documentation.
  • Support and work with Materials and Production departments to plan and perform Run@Rates.
  • Develop visual standards and system criteria for use in manufacturing operations for new launches and maintain for serial‑life products.
  • Follow all internal and OSHA‑required safety procedures.
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures (e.g., quality manual, associates handbook, level II procedures).
  • Perform other duties as requested by the Quality Manager and Corporate Quality.
  • Maintain a layered process audit system.
  • Create cell layouts and work instructions for new parts.
  • Participate in all customer quality audits (IATF, BIQS, etc.).
  • Develop and maintain the quality system for projects assigned.
  • Lead and/or participate in the implementation and discipline of SPC.
  • Create all quality‑related instruction sheets.
  • Participate on 8‑D and continuous‑improvement teams and provide problem‑solving consultation as needed.
  • Prepare PPAP packages for submission to customers.
  • Resolve customer issues for the assigned project.
  • Lead and guide quality personnel in the use of quality methods.
  • Serve as the direct contact for all assigned customers.
  • Work with customers to resolve product quality issues.
  • Report unsafe conditions to the supervisor.
  • Continue training as required.
  • Understand customer‑specific requirements.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as required by the supervisor to maintain a safe, efficient, and quality‑conscious operation.
Qualifications

  • ISO 9001, IATF 16949, PPAP, APQP, SPC, MSA, FMEA, QOS, 8‑D problem‑solving experience.
  • Knowledge of quality systems and standards.
  • Knowledge of inspection techniques and measurement instrument usage.
  • Capable of performing Gage R&R and capability studies.
Physical Requirements
  • Frequent walking and sitting; occasional standing, using hands to finger, handle, or feel; reaching with hands and arms; stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.
  • Occasional lifting and/or moving up to 45 pounds.
  • Close and color vision required for part inspection, including lifting boxes for inspection and labeling.
