Building Products Field/Lab Test Technician

Plano, Texas.

Intertek seeks a Building Products Field/Lab Test Technician to join the Building & Construction team. This role supports testing of building products in both lab and field settings.

• Manage entry‑level testing projects under supervision until signed off to perform testing independently
• Track and condition test specimens
• Set‑up/mount and perform standard tests on building products per specifications and procedures
• Check calibration status of test equipment before testing
• Analyze test results and write concise test reports
• Learn test standards and procedures (e.g., AAMA, ASTM, NFPA)
• Maintain tools, equipment, supplies, and ensure the work area is clean

• High School Diploma or GED
• Technical competency to understand and communicate test procedures, specifications, and results; mechanical aptitude
• Familiarity with or ability to learn Quality Assurance policies and procedures for test specimen control, storage, and disposition
• General construction/carpentry knowledge and experience using power tools
• Physical ability to lift at least 50 pounds and perform required movements (sit, stand, crouch, bend, climb stairs or ladders, crawl, push, pull)
• Ability to follow directions and work under supervision
• Excellent customer service skills
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Computer skills using Word and Excel;
  AutoCAD if applicable
• Ability to travel up to 50% of the time
• Valid driver’s license and reliable driving record

• Associate’s Degree in a technical field or equivalent experience
