ScopeThe Product Compliance & Certification Manager will lead regulatory compliance, certification strategy, and external quality assurance activities across Data Center & Energy Management-related products under Mitsubishi Heavy Industries product lines in North America. This role is responsible for ensuring all products, systems, and solutions comply with applicable North American regulatory, certification, and code requirements, while maintaining full alignment with Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd.'s
QA/QC processes and procedures. The Product Compliance & Certification Manager will act as the primary interface with certification bodies, regulatory authorities, and customers on compliance-related matters, while coordinating internally with engineering, QA/QC teams, and program management to ensure timely and successful certification and market entry. This position collaborates with global stakeholders across Japan and the U.S. to align priorities, enable effective execution, and support MHIA’s long-term business objectives.
The ideal candidate will have at least twelve (12) years of experience in regulatory compliance, certification, QA/QC, or engineering within industrial, energy, or data center-related industries.
Job ResponsibilitiesRegulatory Strategy
- Define and execute regulatory and certification strategies for DCEM America products and systems.
- Identify applicable codes, standards, and certification requirements (e.g., UL, ETL, NRTL, NEC, NFPA, environmental and emissions regulations).
- Develop certification roadmaps aligned with product development and program timelines.
- Provide early-stage guidance to engineering teams to ensure designs meet regulatory requirements.
- Monitor regulatory changes and assess their impact on business and product lines.
- Represent DCEM America in regulatory discussions, industry forums, and audits as needed.
- Support alignment between North America operations and Japan HQ for global product compliance.
- Lead certification processes including testing, documentation, submission, and approval with certification bodies (UL, ETL, NRTL, etc.).
- Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to prepare required technical documentation and test evidence.
- Manage certification schedules, risks, and issue resolution.
- Support factory and site inspections required for certification and compliance validation.
- Act as the primary point of contact with certification agencies, regulatory authorities, and inspectors.
- Identify opportunities to streamline certification processes and improve regulatory efficiency.
- Capture lessons learned and integrate them into future product development and QA/QC processes.
- Ensure all QA/QC and product compliance activities align with Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. QA/QC processes, procedures, and global quality standards.
- Interpret and apply North American codes and standards to DCEM products and systems.
- Ensure ongoing compliance across design, manufacturing, installation, and operation phases.
