Ross is a Fortune 500 off‑price retail chain with 2,200+ stores and a global presence. We are hiring an Area Supervisor to support store operations, lead associates, and maintain customer experience.
General PurposeThe Area Supervisor is a member of the Store Leadership team. The role is responsible for a specific area of the store and acts as Manager on Duty, opening and closing the store, supervising associates, and ensuring proper merchandise presentation and a clean environment.
Essential Functions- Maintaining Safe & Secure Environments: Prioritise safety, monitor the sales floor, correct unsafe conditions, secure the building, manage entrance/exit control, perform daily function checks on security equipment, and respond to emergencies.
- Customer Service: Treat all customers, associates, and leaders with respect, demonstrate courtesy and professionalism, and recognize associates through company programs.
- Personal and Store Brand: Represent and support the company brand, maintain professional appearance, ensure dress‑code compliance, keep areas clean and merchandised, and handle daily trash removal.
- General Merchandising: Ensure recovery, sizing, and markdowns meet company standards, manage receiving of merchandise, process inbound deliveries, keep stockrooms organised, and support floor moves and signage.
- Loss Prevention: Follow the Loss Prevention Awareness Program, maintain a customer‑service presence on the sales floor, safeguard confidential information, and manage the Public View Monitor system.
- Front‑End Supervision and Operations: Train associates on cash registers and shortages, manage the cash register line, update break schedules, keep front‑end supplies ready, and teach the “Scan and Bag” best practice.
- Fitting Rooms: Keep fitting rooms clean, audit garment tags, and ensure proper go‑back compliance.
- Administrative Duties: Handle cash pulls, bank deposits, payroll activities, and uphold store policies regarding refunds, payments, and break schedules.

- Excellent verbal communication skills.
- Fluency in English.
- Prior customer‑service and supervisory experience preferred.
- Familiarity with point‑of‑sale equipment and applications.
- Basic mathematical calculation skills typical of retail settings.
- Availability to work evenings and weekends.
- Use all store equipment, including PDTs, registers and PCs as required.
- Spend up to 100% of working time standing, walking, and moving around the store.
- Regularly bend at the waist, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop.
- Occasionally push, pull and lift more than 25 lbs; for stockroom shifts, lift more than 20 lbs.
