- The Cashier at Goodwill Industries of Dallas Inc is responsible for providing exceptional customer service while efficiently processing transactions. As part of a not-for-profit charitable organization, the Cashier plays a key role in supporting the mission of Goodwill by ensuring a positive shopping experience for customers and contributing to the overall success of the store operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Greet customers warmly and assist them with their purchases, ensuring a friendly and welcoming environment.
- Accurately process sales transactions using the point-of-sale system, including handling cash, credit, and debit card payments.
- Maintain a clean and organized checkout area, ensuring that it is always ready for customer use.
- Address customer inquiries and resolve any issues or complaints promptly and professionally.
- Monitor and replenish merchandise displays to ensure products are well-stocked and attractively presented.
- Assist with store opening and closing procedures, including securing the cash register and balancing the cash drawer.
- Collaborate with team members to achieve store goals and support Goodwill's mission of providing job training and employment opportunities to those in need.
- Follow all company policies and procedures, including safety and security measures, to ensure a safe shopping environment for customers and staff.
Required
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Required Experience:
- Previous experience in a retail or customer service environment is preferred.
- Experience handling cash transactions and operating a cash register is advantageous.

Skills and Abilities:
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively interact with customers and team members.
- Ability to maintain a positive and professional demeanor in a fast-paced environment.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in handling cash and processing transactions.
- Basic mathematical skills for calculating discounts, change, and totals.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks.
- Familiarity with point-of-sale systems or willingness to learn.
- Demonstrated reliability and punctuality in attendance and work performance.
