Job Title:
Commercial HVAC Technician
This role focuses on designing, installing, maintaining, and repairing commercial HVAC systems in a large, modern facility. You will perform hands‑on mechanical work, troubleshoot complex heating and cooling equipment, and support related building systems to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable operation.
Pay: $34 an hour. First shift
Responsibilities- Install, maintain, and repair commercial HVAC systems, including heating, cooling, and ventilation equipment.
- Troubleshoot boilers and heating systems and repair associated mechanical components.
- Diagnose and service chillers, compressors, motors, coils, cooling towers, and related refrigeration equipment.
- Perform HVAC electrical work, including advanced system diagnostics, electrical troubleshooting, and control wiring.
- Manage HVAC projects to meet established deadlines and stay within defined budgets.
- Operate and optimize Building Management Systems and Building Automation Systems to improve building performance and energy efficiency.
- Use AutoCAD and Revit to plan HVAC layouts, support system design, and coordinate with other building systems.
- Work with MEP systems to ensure proper integration of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing components.
- Maintain and repair plumbing systems that are connected to HVAC and refrigeration equipment.
- Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on HVAC/R systems to reduce downtime and extend equipment life.
- Conduct airflow and ductwork optimization to ensure proper system performance and comfort.
- Support control systems operation, including HVAC controls, fire alarm interfaces, and life‑safety system integration.
- Apply safe work practices and follow established safety protocols aligned with industry and OSHA standards.
- Complete basic carpentry and painting tasks required for HVAC installation, modification, and repair.
- Document work performed, communicate equipment status, and coordinate with other trades as needed.
- Proven experience installing, maintaining, and repairing commercial HVAC systems.
- Strong troubleshooting skills in HVAC, including boilers, chillers, compressors, motors, coils, and cooling towers.
- Hands‑on mechanical and electrical aptitude for HVAC/R systems and related equipment.
- Ability to perform advanced HVAC system diagnostics and identify root causes of equipment issues.
- Proficiency in electrical troubleshooting and control wiring for HVAC controls and related systems.
- Experience working with Building Management Systems and Building Automation Systems.
- Knowledge of refrigeration principles, refrigerant handling, and HVAC/R operation.
- Strong understanding of construction and mechanical systems, including building structures and installation methods.
- Expertise in boilers, ventilation, refrigeration, and HVAC‑related plumbing systems.
- Ability to manage multiple HVAC projects while maintaining quality, timelines, and budgets.
- Experience with HVAC control systems, fire alarm interfaces, and life‑safety system integration.
- Understanding of refrigeration cycles, electrical equipment, and cooling tower operation.
- Familiarity with engineering workflows and safety practices aligned with OSHA standards.
- Demonstrated ability to perform mechanical repairs and systematic troubleshooting.
Skills & Qualifications
- EPA 608 Certification for refrigerant handling.
- Valid HVAC license.
- Experience with HVAC/R systems and preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
- Knowledge of airflow and ductwork optimization techniques.
- Experience with energy‑efficient practices and basic energy management concepts.
- Ability to use AutoCAD and Revit for HVAC layout and system planning.
- Background in construction or mechanical environments supporting building systems.
- Training or experience with safety protocols and OSHA‑aligned practices.
- Experience working with smart controls and advanced building automation technologies.
