Job Summary and Responsibilities
The Data Center Tech is responsible for providing high-quality service in the data center facility to take excellent care of our customers, build relationships, question things, work hard, work smart, and enjoy the experience.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES- Installation of telecommunications equipment and associated infrastructure per customer standards.
- Act as a customer contact. Interface with customers and local supervisors to clarify project status.
- Work well within a team and demonstrate some leadership ability.
- Plan and layout installation activities to meet dates and budgeted hours. Oversee other personnel when required.
- Perform installation of power, fiber and switchboard cable, and telecommunications equipment in data center and other telecom facilities. Installers should be familiar with and/or trained with iron work, bays, equipment rack installation, blueprint/schematic reading.
- Physically placing, removing, or modifying non‑working equipment.
- Cable trays and/or routing of data equipment cabinets and frames.
- Data servers, switches, routers, repeaters, bridges, gateways, multiplexers, transceivers, firewalls.
- Fuse panel work.
- Physically routing the cables that supply AC and/or DC power or transmit data in various technical spaces.
- Identify, label, and terminate cables that supply AC and/or DC power or transmit data.
- Conduct test and document performance characteristics of hardware and software.
- Resolve equipment or technical issues.
- Review, analyze, and interpret work orders, drawings, records, and manuals.
- Perform quality validation on in‑process and completed work.
- Interact with all members of the organization: installation, engineering, and project management.
- Perform other duties as requested by Manager.
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical or college degree preferred.
- Two years of experience.
- Proficient in use of Microsoft programs and applications.
- Proficient in use of iOS and/or Android applications.
- Physical ability to place, remove, or modify non‑working equipment.
- Ability to troubleshoot cabling issues and resolve problems.
- Ability to troubleshoot hardware and software issues and resolve problems.
- Good written and oral communication skills.
- Good customer service skills.
- Good computer soft skills required.
