Overview
Broadcom's Mainframe Software Division is looking for a talented and motivated Mainframe Software Engineer to build high‑quality applications using agile practices.
Responsibilities- Design and develop high-quality software design and architecture for applications on the mainframe platform.
- Build and implement functional software solutions, producing, testing, and debugging code while modernizing enterprise software.
- Collaborate with product management and fellow engineers in an Agile environment to define software requirements and deliver solutions.
- Automate tasks through appropriate tools and scripting to increase efficiency.
- Contribute to a fast‑paced environment with a passion for continuous improvement and technology innovation.
- Share knowledge, best practices, and lessons learned with other mainframe software engineers.
- Perform validation and verification testing.
- Lead engineering excellence initiatives, promoting best practices, code quality, technical debt reduction, and contributing to retrospectives.
- Ensure software stays up‑to‑date with the latest technologies and maintain mainframe expertise.
- Proven mainframe knowledge and skills.
- IBM Assembler Language (HLASM) proficiency.
- z/OS operating system familiarity.
- Experience with CA 1 Flexible Storage, Vtape, DASD Storage Management, DFSMS, Allocate, DFShsm, DFSrmm or other mainframe storage products and systems (plus).
- Source control system experience (Endevor, ISPW, etc.).
- Experience with online z/OS debugger (XDC or SLD) desirable.
- Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and debugging skills.
- Proficiency in Micro C (or PL/X) and JCL.
- Scripting language experience desirable.
- Experience working in an Agile development methodology and understanding of Dev Ops principles.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, ability to collaborate with geographically diverse teams.
Bachelor's degree with 5+ years of related experience, or Master's degree with 3+ years of related experience.
Benefits & CompensationAnnual base salary range: $91,100 – $146,000. Eligible for discretionary annual bonus and equity awards.
