Job Overview

Senior Systems Engineer specializing in algorithms for advanced aerospace sensor programs at Raytheon in Plano, TX. Requires U.S. citizenship and an active DoD Top Secret clearance.

Responsibilities
  • Perform system level performance analysis to evaluate and optimize advanced airborne sensor capabilities.
  • Develop, refine, and analyze algorithms to support mission‑critical aerospace applications.
  • Conduct trade studies to compare technical approaches and guide engineering decisions.
  • Build statistical models and performance predictions for complex, multidisciplinary systems.
  • Execute detailed data analyses following Raytheon engineering processes and best practices.
  • Participate in formal and informal peer reviews; identify, track, and resolve technical issues.
  • Provide clear, timely task status updates and deliver high quality work products to the team lead.
  • Interface daily with engineering teammates, team leads, and cross‑functional partners to ensure technical alignment.
  • Support customer and program presentations by contributing technical content and insights.
  • Collaborate with both internal teams and external stakeholders to drive successful program outcomes.
Qualifications – Required
  • Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline and a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience in one or more of the following areas: signal processing algorithms or models, image processing algorithms or models, detection theory, or machine learning.
  • Mathematical modeling and analytical problem‑solving skills.
  • Working experience in UNIX/Linux environments.
  • Programming experience in C or C++, and hands‑on experience using MATLAB or Python for data analysis.
Qualifications – Preferred
  • Active DoD Top Secret clearance.
  • Advanced graduate degree in STEM.
  • Knowledge of developing signal processing algorithms for airborne surveillance applications, including signal and image processing, physics‑constrained modeling, digital communications, detection and estimation theory, or AI/ML model development and training techniques.
  • Realtime programming experience for embedded or mission critical systems.
  • Experience using software change management tools, version control systems, and established software development processes.
Benefits

Salary range: $86,800 – $165,200. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short‑term and long‑term disability, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, parental leave, paid time off, and holidays. Additional perks are available depending on business unit.
